Re: Stud/8 tournament, 2 pair ,no low

If the table were tight, especially the guy with the Ace, I would raise on third street as a steal. As it is, third is a muck. Everything else looks fine.

Re: Stud/8 Tournament, Not quite sure where I\'m at

I would complete on third and bet the river.

Re: Is this a nutty play at a wild table?

I might limp on third if the game is especially passive (not "wild"), but I really don't see any reason to put chips into this pot.

Re: Who says 10/20 game is bad? (LC)

Only one $10/20 game with a significant waiting list right now. Go figure.

Re: Stud 8 and questionable 6th street call?

I was going to call it a cardinal sin, but I wasn't sure if you'd think that was funny.

Re: So this hand lead to a collusion accusation

Why can't seat 8 have a big pocket pair?

Re: Poker Essays, Mason

The $3/6 game on Party has a "real stud" structure. So do my local low-limit stud games. Many $1/2 stud games have a $.25 ante, which is high.

Once a few bets go into the pot, knocking out...

Re: 2/4 Stud HI hand.

Either you were doing really well in this game or you subscribe to the same buy-in theory as Carlos.

I don't think the third-street call is awful, but as others have pointed out, folding is...

Re: Stud 8 and questionable 6th street call?

Failing to three-bet on fourth approaches crime-against-humanity territory. Fifth is worth a raise as well. On sixth, you do have enough hand to take all that pressure. There is a certain amount...

Re: $5/$10 Stud Hi - Rolled

I would probably just call on fourth and then pop it on fifth, but it doesn't make that much difference. Nice hand.

Nice that you can remember a hand that I played and I can't.

you don't think the other players will get suspicious after you call two bets coming back on 4th with 9 and 2 upcards?

Re: Stud/8 hand from a total newbie

There's also a King out on third street....

There is no fourth street rule in stud/8, that is, hero can only make a small bet on fourth.

Re: Quick Vegas Trip Report

Say hi to snakehead for us.

Brett hasn't posted in the stud forum in about a year. I wonder if he'd make Emery's top five.

Re: Bellagio 50/100: Biggest laydown in my life, Idiot or Genius?

I've never laid a hand down in my life, and I don't think I'd start with this one. What do you think is more likely--that a guy in a $50/100 game is getting frisky with a big two pair, or that he's...

Re: RESULT

This wasn't three to a flush on fifth. It was four to a flush on fourth. If you bet open Aces with a four-flush and someone raises, do you fold?

Re: 8/b - good laydown on 6th st.?

Yeah, it looks like you're drawing dead for high, and there are a lot of Eights gone. I think you did well to let this one go.

Re: Hand from Stud-8 tourney.

Mmmmmm. Jelly beans.

Your third-street hand is crap. It is true that I tend to throw my weight around at these things, but I do need a little something to raise here, especially this early in...

Re: Stud Hi .5/1: did I go too far here?

I think I play it the same. I don't really enjoy calling off my money like this, but I don't really see any point at which you can get away from this one.

Re: TAG shifting gears at the wrong time

Seems to me that a while back, someone posted about an expert player who made a similar play with (A2)2. There were important differences. First, there weren't the two callers in between the two...

Re: Split the Stud Forum?

I don't think there is enough traffic to warrant a split. There is a separate forum where the moderators discuss things like the splitting of forums. I'm pretty sure that the forums won't get split...

Re: Is this too aggressive with a lot of potential outs?

You played it fine. I might be a little more conservative on third street, but jamming is fine.

Even if you blank off on the river, bet it for value. If the other guys go nuts, there is enough...

Re: Stud/8 hand from a total newbie

I think this one is just fine. Generally, you should stick with one hand per thread.

Re: Stud/8 overplayed hand

Third and fourth are fine. I like the raise on fifth. It should get the potential low out, and it's fairly likely that the bettor has only the Tens.

This is easy for me to say from the comfort...
