I'm going to cheat and do my top 10, because I couldn't force myself to pare this down:

Leaving Las Vegas (A dark but brilliantly acted movie.)
21 Grams (IMO, Sean Penn's finest...

Re: Two plus Two publishing Poker list

"Big Deal: One Year as a Professional Poker Player" by Anthony Holden. This book probably won't improve your poker, but it's a great read. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Who Is More Of A Man?

Cry Me A River:

From your post, it seems clear that you and I both agree that the "fight" option is a very bad decision. This is the most important point in this discussion, so I believe you...

Re: Who Is More Of A Man?

I could hardly disagree with you more. The best thing to do in this situation, assuming you are too thin-skinned to put up with some verbal abuse and unable to talk the guy down, IS to complain (or...

Re: how can people be so gullible as to believe Kobe?

Re: Who Is More Of A Man?

Maybe a better question is who is more of an idiot? The guy who says "let's take it outside," or the guy who stays calm and (if necessary) calls for the floorman? If you don't know the answer to...

Re: Chess Openings

I agree about Palliser's "Play 1.d4!" being a good book. I thought he made a lot of good choices regarding lines and included just enough but not too much about them.

If you don't have Joe...

Re: Most beautyfull woman ever on the screen (at her time)

The young Elizabeth Taylor (circa "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof") was pretty amazing, in my opinion. However, I also agree that Sophia Loren was pretty much a stand-out.

Re: I Did It!

Sorry, I just had to add another useless post. This thread is really great in a kinda sick way.

So I think the following: (i) the guy with a math degree from MIT is gonna be pretty bright...

Re: Chess Openings

As White I either play mainline 1.d4 openings or sometimes Reti/English systems.

As Black I usually play the Queen's Gambit Declined (Tartakower) against 1.d4 and the French Defense against 1.e4. ...

Re: Book (only real Litrature, no airport pulp) that you hated the most.

Though I'd add in my two bits. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif With the exception of the books in Archangel71857's and Rushmore's posts, plus the Age of Innnocence and Cosmopolic (sp?), none of which I...

I have read in several places on the Net that chess players have an advantage over other newbies when taking up poker. I am interested in whether any chess players can confirm this, and possibly...
