Re: TPTK/Overpair against tricky players

I made a blocking bet yesterday on a four heart river with a set. I didn't have the heart.

A guy who has been calling all the way raises big.
And shows me a smaller set and no heart. ...

Re: TPTK/Overpair against tricky players

Riverblock is 50% right?
And fold to a raise?

Re: TPTK/Overpair against tricky players

Agree, some of these TAP chases the turn and then folds.
But if your potbet on the turn gets called I guess its best to ch-f to any reasonable bet.

Re: TPTK/Overpair against tricky players

Ok say that you check.
And he bet pot size.

Do you call then?

What about a 50% bet?

Re: TPTK/Overpair against tricky players

But often you have no clue if he's drawing or not.
If you have only played 100 hands against a guy and you have seen him slowplay twice you don't know if he chases or not.

TPTK/Overpair against tricky players

I seem to get into alot of trouble here.
Against players that slowplays alot I usually bet to much on the turn leading to a big pot.
I bet about 75% on the flop and then about 60% on the turn.

Re: Weak-tight two pair?

The thing is that when I played the hand I didn't have any hands on him. He was an unknown and he had a stack bigger than the buy-in. Scared the living crap out of me.

Hi my name is Supern.

Finally someone who is an excellent hand reader! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

(I'm joking of course, it was a bad fold)

Re: Weak-tight two pair?

I agree that this fold is probably my worst yet. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

What if I had AJ?
Call the flop and fold the turn?
Or is that too weak-tight as well?

At this level it is very...

Re: Weak-tight two pair?

On a board like this you play top two pair you like it is the nuts?
Especially against only 2 opponents.

Re: Weak-tight two pair?

I didn't raise.
I got check-raised.
That was the action that surprised me.
Getting check-raised by a passive player is always scary.
But he may have picked up on the fact that I almost always...

Re: Weak-tight two pair?

I know that every hand is a new hand, but prior to this I had been seeing alot of sets against me. That really gets into your head.

What do you put him on?
I think he most likely has AK, AJ-9....

Re: Top two pair

Of course.
But since he is an unknown I can't give him credit for a big hand just like that getting 2:1 with top two.

He could have QT, AT, AK or a draw as well as a hand that beats me.

Or is...

Re: Top two pair

So you fold a river push against an unknown getting 2:1 on your money with top two pair?
Remember he is a SB player as well.

I don't think folding is EV+ here.

Re: $50PL AA OOP, Paired Board

You should bet more on the flop. 5$ is better.
Your small bet can be interpreted as weakness which makes the hand hard to read.

Check-call the turn and check-fold the river unimproved?

If he...

Re: $50PL AA OOP, Paired Board

Ah missed that it was potlimit.

Since having AA oop is so freaking hard I have started pushing more preflop with AA in NL.
Often with massive overbets.
So far QQ and A9o has called. ...

Re: AA vs 2 unknowns

Should I just flat call do you think?
It could be an option but then I don't tell them I have an overpair. I didn't want to raise more so I could fold if I didn't like the outcome.
