Re: Ever play at tables you know you should avoid?

Re: anyone reviewed Shane Smith or Bill Boston\'s books?

Bill Boston's is essentially pages of hand charts and values.

Zee's book is honestly my favorite out of the 2+2 catalog, no book has helped me more. /images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Re: My interesting hand of the day

Re: DEFENDING with Uncoordinated Low Cards

My take is that the good steal hands don't exist - its the steal spots. Play the player. Find someone who is willing to lay down and not defend their blind. Voila, overlay.

In tournaments,...

Re: How\'s my line here? TPTK in omaha, no low

Its more likely that he would have a 3 on the flop and bet - you want to win the whole pot and that's the best shot to do it.

I would easily see a hand with A4 in the mix (A24, A45, something...

Re: Game Theory books

If you are interested in pure game theory - check for John Nash's collected writings (he's the guy from A Beautiful Mind).

It was a bit over my head, but still a good read.

Re: Reby VS Freezeout... which is better for a good player

Rebuy (first hour) favors a player who is willing/financially able to gamble and repeatedly rebuy. Once the rebuy period ends, the average stack/bb is much deeper than a normal MTT (I'm most...

Re: Norman Chad - Any good at Poker?

well why would they want to do it live (which carries a host of complications and challenges) when you can tape it later. This doesn't even factor in hole cards, just logistics.

Poker on TV is...

I much prefer for people to make judgements about me based on how I play, not just who I am, though I don't mind the occasional first impression assumption based upon my sometimes...

Re: Dangerous thoughts

Having self-confidence is NOT a bad thing. Believing in your ability to play is also NOT a bad thing.

Assuming that anytime you sit down that everyone is cowed to you and (I assume) you aren't a...

Re: New to you, Dealing with the fear.....

At risk of sounding overly obvious - no fear allowed. I know I am not a perfect player, but I believe I am better than those I face (for a variety of reasons that don't matter here).

The big...

Re: Why do you guys play MTTs?

Why play MTTs - to win them. The score per buyin/hour/100 hands is superior to anything else when you win one. I only play them when I am on my A game since they are a slugfest to make decent money...

I agree - Angels & Demons was a more interesting read than Da Vinci (I enjoyed both).

If you want to read Fifth Street as a poker novel - just page through the murder trial parts. It is...

Re: Party vs Stars - Which tournament structure do you prefer?

Stars - deeper chip structure, better software, and easier to know exactly where you stand at any given time.

9 handed vs 10 handed isn't crucial for me - it matters less and less once you get...

Re: AKo UTG - 23 left out of 1,000

Re: General strategy for low buy in FIXED LIMIT tournaments

I've made a few decent runs in various 400-700 person online small-buyin tournies (a few final tables, a win, good cash %) - mostly in limit tournies, but not exclusively holdem.

What these...
