Re: Shorting the US dollar

Gold wasn't in the middle of a huge upwards price swing in the 70s until about 1978. So when the huge upward swing started then it only lasted about 3 years. Morever, the only gold bull markets...

Re: Shorting the US dollar

Seems like a good time to buy gold would have been around 2000 when it was trading at a very low price relative to its historical trading value. Considering where gold is at now, what is the...

Re: When should one buy a house?

"Your living expenses should rarely exceed 33% of your income, and on an income of $25k/year, I assume it would."

For this rule of thumb do you use gross or net income.

Pros and cons of owning Condo\'s

Hi all,

I often lurk in this form and I think there's a lot of good, intelligent discussion going on in here. Hopefully you guys/gals can offer me some advice on this situation.

Re: LA where have you been1?!?

Given your re-raise, I think this fold is pretty easy with deep stacks at a TAG table.

Re: jamming quads.

"villian has me barely covered and is one of the solid winning players."

He's not stacking off without AA here unless you are lag enough to make this play with a draw.

Re: $30/60 T9s

" anyone pop this pf? "

I agree. When the action closes to you with 5 people preflop, raise it up again to give that 10 9s a big pot to play for.

Re: Bad Swings / Variance

Yeah, I had a bad run last couple of days at NL. Lost 4 buy-ins today but I was pushing really good edges. That's part of playing a game for money.

In his book Hold'em for advanced players, Sklansky says that in tough games one should fold JJ in ANY position if it's been raised and reraised in front of you. Considering the aggression in most...

Re: Results

Yeah, AA raised preflop like that with 5 other callers pretty much forces you to play for set value.

Re: $5/$10 QQ

I think calling the flop was good with that board against an aggro. You gave him another chance to swing at the pot on the turn whereas he may have folded to a flop raise. Raise the turn here. ...

Re: Commerce 10-20, good laydown or too paranoid?

Turnip, I think this play was most likely made because of a tell or good read. I doubt he would make this laydown everytime. Who knows?

Re: Prima 5/10 NL...mistake betting this river?

Check this river every time. And thank him next time for not putting you to a tough river decision. If the board didn't pair I think you'd have to fire a $200 or so value bet.
