Re: 77 UTG with a raise from SB

I like it.

PF - open-limp is fine. Calling the raise is fine.

Flop - I like the raise. Punish overcards for drawing, value-bet your 2nd pair, redraw with a gutshot.

Turn - I'm not sure...

Re: I Don\'t Know Enough to be a Winning Player (QUIZ)

*grunch*

I think the quiz could take a lesson from these boards and post position and reads in the questions instead of all at the top. It's very easy to lose track of such things scrolling all...

Re: Caught stealing - flopped a one card flush draw - how far to go?

I just addressed this while you were posting, but he's given you have two reasons.

1) Blind defense here is generally better than any 2 cards. Good aggressive players have looser defense...

[ QUOTE ]
I'd check the turn through.

A read might help, but I agree.

What is BB calling with on the flop that doesn't include a heart? A weaker hand might c/r the flop to push...

[ QUOTE ]
I just realized that if Button has a made flush on the turn, then we actually have 4 outs to make a full house.

This is a very good point and bears...

Re: Hey you - learn from my mistakes

The pot's already big. You *never* want them to call here /images/graemlins/smile.gif

You want to improve your chances to win this pot and your best chance is to get it headsup against the guy...

Re: TT vs.a small army of coldcallers

I think you're all missing villain's AF of 2.5 and intrepreting *Button* action as a monster. Don't you think AJs and even QJs would have found a PF 3-bet at this table?

99 is on the bubble, but...

Re: TT vs.a small army of coldcallers

*grunch*

Your 2+2 TAG either made a hand on the flop, in which case he practically never has a better club or he pumped a draw which came in and was counterfeited (which also rarely has a better...

Re: Hey you - learn from my mistakes

FWIW - many tens in microlimits aren't folding if you raise, either. He's clearly in calldown mode with top pair and facing aggression.

But raising the turn with your holding is still the right...

Re: MUBS with Q6s?

*grunch*

I don't get this river thought process. People don't raise the turn on a draw. Maybe an A-high club draw or pp trying to push you off of a K (which I suspect BB had).

As played, I...

Re: AK in a tough spot

*grunch*

MP2 is tight and passive, then.

What's UTG's VPIP? Has he been active and ready to tick off his stack or has he been selective and found a hand that he's ready to get his money in on?...

Re: clarkmeistering the turn?

Well, I don't get it either but some of those guys talk a better game than *I* play so there's probably something to it.

I suspect that it's just a multi-tabling concession. It's such a difficult...

Re: clarkmeistering the turn?

I assume you fold to a raise? There are some opponents against whom I'd raise in MP/LP with any two here.

I agree that a bet is in order, but I think the reservation is that it's a real hard hand...

Re: clarkmeistering the turn?

All that means is that they are correct to call down with their 4-flush. You're still the favorite with top pair (2:1 that the flush doesn't come). In the mean time, you're not extracting value...

Re: nut flush draw, turn & river questions

nh.

Boz - Do you think there's a difference in the action you'll get when you turn a spade if you call the 3-bet vs capping? I raise the flop, too, but villain's 3-bet pretty much freezes the...

Re: clarkmeistering the turn?

It's a difficult hand to play, but I can't Pokerstove anything reasonable that shows he doesn't have the equity to bet this flop. Against villain headsup, he's a 3:2 favorite, but after the turn...

Re: Results & Analysis

[ QUOTE ]
Looking at the hand from the beginning:
- I didn’t raise preflop as KJs which was most likely a mistake. Sklansky has KJs at the bottom range of raising hands from the BB. I don’t like to...

Re: KK: lots of action, monotone flop

Against a sane opponent, there are 9 hands of which you're afraid (6 give you live redraws) and 21 hands against which you're in great shape.

Unless he shows you the AAc, you've got to 3-bet this...

Re: results

Well, that's unfortunate but the play is still correct given that you did not have the read at the time.

It's results-oriented to look back at it as a mistake.

Re: Flopping Nut Flush

*grunch*

Raise this pre-flop in a loose-passive game. This will create more dead money if you lose players and build pots for when you hit. SSH supports the idea of raising suited broadway in...

Re: Preflop with 88

I was thinking JJ/TT vs KK type of situations for A83. You probably get a bet from one of them and then you act after calling 3 cold and they both know they're beat.

I was originally thinking KK...
