Re: Another hand against flawless...

(Assuming you have some history with each other)

I think your play on this hand can be looked at by answering these four questions:
1) How often do you take the "obvious low limit" line of...

tough river spot OOP

I was playing in a live game with $2/5 blinds, rather deep. Effective stacks are about 1100. I open UTG for 25 with TT. Folded around to the CO, who has done nothing whatsoever remarkable in the...

56s on the button

I was playing in a live 25/50 limit game that switched to no limit after a few hours. Blinds are $2/5, but average stack is around 1500, so we're playing pretty deep here. Three people limp to me...

big draw on paired board

After taking a break for a bit from poker to start a new job, I got invited to a home game. It's 25/50 limit, playing 7 handed with people from the financial world.

UTG (very rich,...

My poker odyssey (VERY long)

After reading Gabe's story, I thought I'd continue in the autobiographical mode, since I'm about to cash out and pretty much leave the poker world. This is quite long, so you might want to just skim...

Re: $500 Bellagio AKo

He has 3 extra outs on hands 22-44 due to counterfeiting with the three sixes left in the deck. He's 75:25 dog to a pair above sixes, which is obviously -EV calling, but he's neutral on a pair below...

Re: poorly played blind battle

I know the first comment isn't directed at me, but some reasoning:
1) Capping ATo out of position seems a bit to aggro, especially against an unknown.
2) I feel like checkraising the turn will...

Re: Are these standard?

Hand 1:
I feel like there's no worse hand that's going to call your bet, and you won't get a better hand to fold when you bet the river. The turn check makes me think he has a ten and just wants to...

poorly played blind battle

This is the second hand I've played on the table. I have no reads on the big blind, but I feel like I played this awfully...suggestions for improvement?

Defending SB

I'm playing 15/30 and want to get back to some basic blind defense questions after a long layoff:
Unknown CO openraises. Button folds, BB is unknown as well.
What is your default play in the SB...

trips on the flop - deep stack

I have some pretty good reads here, but I'm not sure what line to take. SB is tricky but a bit loose. BB is TAG, and likes leading me along- we played a hand earlier where I had A8 and he had qq...

I can't find the history, but...
pp 15/30 I open raise AK (ace of spades) from MP or so. 3bet by the button, who's 30/10/1.5 or so. Blinds fold, I call.
Flop comes down:

QQ preflop question

UTG (a bit loose) raises to 25 with about 1200 behind him on 5/10 party poker.
Button (hasn't gotten out of line yet) raises to 100 with 1500.
I have QQ in the big blind with about 1300. ...

5/10 nut flush draw out of position

I was messing around with the PFR...after he calls the flop, what's my play on the turn? I'm not really sure of any kind of right line out of position. I have no read on him beyond him not getting...

Shania in limit online?

In looking at Nate's post about suited connectors, (btw, nice transcript at BP, Nate) I was thinking about the usefulness of Shania playing 15/30 on party. Playing full games, I feel like the table...

Re: JTo party 15..

I think you missed a thin value bet on the river. SB is apparently decent enough to realize that you're going to bet almost any hand on the button and thus checkraises you. I wouldn't be surprised...

I feel like this is a pretty common occurance. Someone raises your big blind, and you call with a decent hand like KJ, and hit your top pair ok-kicker. What do people think the best way to play is...

Similar play against same opponent (2 hands)

I'm playing live 5/5. I have 500 and 78s in the CO. UTG and someone else limps, I limp with 78s, villain (I have no read at the moment) raises to 30, UTG calls, second person folds, I call.

Re: Large Pot With The Big Slick

With that many people in preflop, capping AK has to have positive equity. Punish all the other limpers.

With regards to the turn: There was a post a few days ago by Peter_rus, I believe, with a...

I'm trying to think about hands more deeply when good people post, and my initial response to this post was to have bet the flop, and failing that, raise the turn.

Upon thinking more, if I were...
