Re: Writing my College Essay on Poker?

I think a well written interesting essay is more important that the topic. these guys read hundreds in a row. But as people have said you don't want to come across as a guy who will be more into...

Re: I NEVER know what to do here...

This is always a tricky spot.
A. folding pre flop would be a big mistake getting 5-1.

Betting out is probably best, you may miss out on a continuation bet when you are ahead but should save...

Re: standard $109 AK hand?

so there is 1025 in the pot and it is about 1800 more to call so you are getting about 1.6-1 and would need to have about a 40% chance on average to win to make the call correct. Some quick math I...

Re: JJ Hand

This thread literally cost me money. I started to wonder whether I really did want to be raising in ep in a full game w/ JJ. So I tried limping ug. 1st time, guy put a big raises in in lp, I fold,...

Re: Would you push this?

the ev calculator says it is plus ev only if all of the players call you w/ 77+ or a9+. If you make one of them loose to any ace any pair or kj+, then it says -ev.

So it is only correct if all...

Re: What do do with this draw on the bubble?

I used to think that the payout structure of sng's should effect ones strategy, but after reading the harrington book i think just thinking about chip ev is the most important consideration. Outside...

Re: Another early SNG hand

This is a tough spot, after reading the Harrington book my guess would he would play it the same way and call (with the intention of getting allin by the end) or push here (or at least recomend that)...

Re: 4 Players All In (low content-brag post)

I'm going to say: You 22, SB: flush draw (prob AJd), butt: QQ, MP2: QK w/ kd)

(assuming you have 22 and not q2 limits things, and I'd think that the sb seeming resonably tight would be more...

Re: New Candidate for worst fold ever?

I really don't think this is a very bad fold, but i think it is a situation where a fold and a call is pretty close ev, but a fold is better. you need to call 400 to win 1400 I think so u are getting...

Re: HoH Hand 2-1

I had a similar reaction to this and some other hands in his book. I does seem that a push if you are going to call a raise any way makes more sense, at least against people who are not too...

Re: overplay of AKs?

if you assume (prob corectly) that the bb will call, you would be getting better than 2-1 odds (given the $ you already bet) so call/fold become mainly a math ev question. to break even you need to...

Re: VERY QUICK, AKs vs. a raise PF

I think this is close between calling and folding, i think this will usually be a big pair so raising probabbly is not a good idea. the question is just whether when you make your hand you will make...

Re: confused w/ TT

thanks for the advice, I think I need to stop thinking of tt a a big pair. I've done this with my ring game play and it has helped. I thought my tounament game needed more agression but not here.

Re: Eliminated Just Out of the Money? Worse feeling?

I think the worst is a bubble finish in a satalite tourney. at least in a regular tourney you can say you needed to take chances to win real money, more than just a little more than your buy in but...

Re: confused w/ TT

So my main problem with calling pre-flop is that others will likley call too reducing the chance that I will flop the best hand most of the time i'd be playing for the set and I'm not getting the...

Re: pocket 6\'s I guess no good

I do think the 2 calls and bet out are most likley a real hand. However, I do think that there are many players out there that would call the flop w/ somethng like AT. A flop stab seems fine But this...

Re: Hand 1 and Hand 2

One thing that seems to be taking place here is you are thinking the other player will think and be as tight as you which is often not the case. In hand one many people will just call w/ a set or 2p,...

Re: Lame endgame?

At this stage even with those blinds, you can't be too far off pushing with every hand. it may not be optimal but basically your chance to win will be close to your chip lead. With that kind of...

Re: Lets see what people think of this one

The thing about this check raise is that the bb will likley call w/ almost anything since he is getting 3-1 on the call, 7k into 20k pot with your raise. and he would be left with a reasonable 16k....
