Re: Mohegan Sun

No Poker Content: Last time I checked, Claridge still offered surrender on the eight deck game. Most AC casinos don't allow resplitting if your third card is the same rank.

Re: Do any of you guys understand what a JOKE is???

OK, that's it! I'll never again tip anyone who kicks me in the nuts. I don't care how much of a service he's doing the human race; he's not getting any more of my money. Ever.

Re: Ever feel cheated in a casino?

Yes, it's paranoia. If virtually all dealers had the card handling chops to cheat undetected, they wouldn't be risking prosecution or even working a job as tough as dealing to split winnings or...

Re: Card Protectors -- No content

I use either a chip or, if I feel the need of a little reminder of how lucky I am, the piece of a Chinese mortar round that I dug out of my leg in 1971 -- usually the chip.

Re: Poker at AC i.e 5/10

Same here. I cut my teeth on the 5-10 at the Taj and it's never been tight. Is the Borg 6-12 that much softer?

Re: Dont stay at the Ascot in AC

I've stayed in worse places than the Ascot in worse cities than AC. We even took my mother-in-law to the Ascot for her birthday. Come to think of it, that was 5 months ago and we haven't heard from...

Re: Someone asked what my cards were

I've been telling 'em "top two pair", but "Jacks" may be an even better response. For persistently annoying questioners, I usually go the "pay me off next time if you're curious" route.

Re: Shaking

The only time I notice myself shaking is when I take down my first pot of the session -- don't know why it happens, but after that, I'm steady.

I've seen guys shake when they're holding a big...

Re: New to this, please evaulate

While I agree with the other posters about your not having enough playing time to draw conclusions, I know the 4-8 at the Trop -- it's an incredibly soft game, so it wouldn't surprise me if your...

Re: Floormen, managers, dealers: Want to be an expert witness? (long)

Actually, it was a ruling by the National Labor Relations Board and not the Supreme Court (I was posting after 2 hours sleep). But the rest of the info is accurate.

Re: Floormen, managers, dealers: Want to be an expert witness? (long)

Tough break, ytf. Hope you find another good gig soon. I have to take exception to what the other posters have told you so far. This is an area in which I have more than 25 years of experience. ...

Re: Is This Normal?!!

Doesn't have to be super low limit to see behavior like this. I've seen plenty of 10-20 and even some 20-40 games in which 5 to 8 players take the flop typically. Gotta love it.

Re: Faking the call... shooting an angle?

It's no more of an angle than sitting there "thinking" for five minutes about a hand you know you're going to fold.

Re: Underage: Forfeit Your Chips?

The casino will not take chips that you win in a cash game -- they never belonged to the casino in the first place. They can take any jackpot money. The cops can confiscate your winnings, fine you...

Re: More on tipping (story from tonight). Don\'t be like this guy.

What someone's alternative is doesn't mean squat, Randy. Knowing how to deal and run a game has no more to do with education in economics than it does with flipping burgers. If I were paying...

Re: Hurt Back - can you play standing up?

About three years ago I had back problems similar to what you described. I played a full weekend at the poker table standing half the time and kneeling the other half. Nobody seemed to object, but...

Re: Waiting for the old man to post his blind...

A blind is a bet, even if it's a forced bet. If the old guy had made a verbal acknowledgment of his obligation to post, it's your action. If not, as seems to be the case here, you'd be acting out...

But there\'s one advantage...

Not that I think this is the reason for the change (or that I don't think it's a stupid move), but the side benefit is that it cuts down wait times -- when people leave the game, the lists move...

Re: Was I too nice?

I couldn't agree more. If you take down a pot that you know shouldn't be yours, you're no better than the chip thieves Drew mentions in another thread. Play the game hard, but play it square.

Re: Foxwoods this Friday 1/14

Yeah, I'll be there, but not until around nine. I'll probably be playing either the 5-10 or the 10-20.

FW wait times

I'm heading to Foxwoods this Friday evening. We're treating my wife's cousin and her fiance to dinner and a night at the casino. Naturally, I'd like to play some poker -- if we arrive around 9:00...

Re: New room in AC

[ QUOTE ]
I told him that I've been to the Showboat recently, and not only was there not a poker room, to the best of my knowledge, but there are also no table games any more (isn't it slots-only?)....
