Re: Does anyone lay this down here?

I push, but I'm crazy.

You will make some Ax fold that might beat you - A9, AJ even. AQ, AK, and definitely AT call you in a heartbeat, as does TT.

His smallish bet pre-flop would lean more...

Re: my early tightening lessons continue

Just don't get married to it. AQo is a good hand - pre-flop against a few players.

What if it's checked to you and the flop is all rags? You may be able to take the pot right there. Although...

Re: QQ UTG Home Tourney

I think it's an easy push. The raise is fine. You're UTG, you have to raise a significant amount to define your hand and thin the field. It's risky, but it sucks that you got that hand with no...

Re: How to play Q9 on Flop of QQ2 rainbow?

Well, seeing as how you're playing Q9, I'd say you were the BB and you'd be hard pressed to see any AQ or even KQ. (Small chance for KQ) I can easily see a QJ or QT coming in, though. Of course,...

Re: A Few Simple Beginner Questions

I would recommend Harrington on Hold'em for you, then. It covers the early rounds, which is probably where you're weakest right now. Once you make a final table, your SnG experience should pay off.

Re: Vegas Tourney Schedule

....and they're winnable!

Sorry, I was there for the Saturday 8pm one on the 8th of January. I wound up chopping for 1st for $1,000 - netting about $900 or so. They take about four hours, and...

Re: Pot committed

I think the lesson may be more to be aware of stack sizes, and how a short stack will go all-in on your raise, which is small in relation to your stack, but large compared to his. As such, you...

Re: Heads-up with KK

Would your initial CALL be raising alarm bells? If you two have been stealing each other's blinds, a sudden passive move on your end may signal strength. (Or not - you would know better than I.)

Re: 2 Pocket Pair hands

That's actually what I was looking for. I think I fried a circuit or two thinking, "I'm on a downstreak. Oh, look, Aces! Time to get PAID!" And then going WAY too far with them.

A sane person...

Hand 1: I fold. Is that weak tight? I'm thinking not, but it's painful to not get paid with a high pocket pair. There is a POSSIBLITY that he's semi-bluffing with a straight draw. I thought about...

Re: Folding When I should have raised?

How much should he semi-bluff for on the flop?

In this example, he's betting $1 after three checkers in position into a $4.50 pot. I'm thinking that betting even half the pot would make a couple...

Re: I now hate bottom set

Good point. I must go back to working on my board reading skills. I think I'm too married to the "I've made my set - how can I lose?" mentality.

Re: I now hate bottom set

Do you think the guy with the nut-flush draw would call an all-in? (Well, OK, I think so too.)

Going all-in on the flop would be a $22 raise to win a $7 pot. I think it depends - I'm more...

Re: I now hate bottom set

Yes, my thinking as well. Call (cheaply with lots of people) pre-flop hoping to flop a set. When you hit it, work it for all that it's worth.

I guess I just got unlucky on this one. I hadn't...

I wind up calling.

Top set against flush draw

This is the FIRST HAND of a home game, so there's only five of us. We all know each other pretty well. Everyone starts out with t3600. 10 ante, 50/100 blinds

UTG folds.
CO raises 200 (to 300)....
