Re: Interesting AA post by Garland from medium stakes

"The original raiser should be releasing all of the aforementioned hands."

Should be. You never steal in this spot? You think he never thinks you're trying to steal in this spot? I haven't played...

Re: Need a second opinion...

i) You don't understand EV calculations. We include all outcomes and their frequency when calculating expected value.

ii) When in position, the preflop raising range of a random player online is...

Re: Interesting AA post by Garland from medium stakes

this hand is appalling. is an explanation even required?

fine, here's one: the preflop calling range of a random opponent with those stats includes *almost every hand he raised preflop*. You can...

Re: 5/10 NL 6 Max....TPTK facing the old CMR

Uhm, shoving is pretty terrible vs. random opponent in isolation. Random players don't call with worse hands when you shove the flop (but they'll bet the turn), nor is their hand range predominately...

Re: Is having the initiative a fundamental advantage?

The short answer to your question is simply, "no". There is no inherent advantage to having the initiative at any form of poker. "Initiative" is shorthand for exactly what you've suggested it is:...

Re: Squeeze play gone horribly wrong

There's nothing the least bit confusing about this. KK has enough equity vs. your opponent's range (sometimes Ak, QQ, JJ, other pairs) to make a call/shove mandatory. A2s never has enough folding...

Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???

Very true. Sometimes you can get into trouble assuming everyone reads 2p2 and plays as instructed. But the questions are: do you have a read on any of these opponents which will help in assigning...

Re: Would you drop bottom set?

I agree w/Matt and diablo. Given the size of the pot and the breadth of their hand ranges, this is an easy call. If villain can only have a set or a combo draw (and he occasionally folds preflop...

Re: 5/10 Representing Quads

What hand range do you assign villain on the turn after his raise? Any reasonable assumptions about a 'solid regular' at 5/10nl would make a turn 3bet to $300 have an expectation of >-$200 plus...

Re: 10/20 Bottom set. Wtf???

Whoa, 100% correct! The pot is large enough and your river play has a low enough expectation given the texture of the board, the # of opponents left in the hand, and the informational edge they'll...

Re: 5/10 NL- I like to fold

Okay, ignore what flawless_victory said about betting $125. There are several reasons to "bet $125" if you aren't willing to go all-in.

But if his hand range is such that when he raises you can...

Re: A4d

Unless your opponent is leaking tremendous amounts of information with his flop/turn actions on this board, I think a call has a greater expectation on the turn than a semi-bluff raise (look at the...

Re: Overbetting Part 1

So.. overbet to extract greater value from the loose/bad players and overbet to bluff the tight/mediocre players. Ok, cool. Useful generalizations to be sure.

Re: Bluff, Bet Size

Bet the flop unless your opponent is only calling reraises with a relatively narrow range of hands. Most players call thin enough 3 handed in an aggressive game that this should be an autobet,...

Re: Simple play I invented - 5/10NL Party

Only prob is that unless you have the image for it, you're losing too much value vs. worse hands in opponent's range for this line to even be *close* to optimal.

Re: Party 10/20 NL:River Overbet

Bet the flop. Given that you didn't bet the flop, raise more on the turn.
