In this case players out of turn action is binding. I would say the ruling was correct, if OP was cutting chips in to the pot, IOW he was clearly betting. So bet is 800 and next to act is all-in as...

I would say your bet is 800 because you had already bet atleast that much, and villian gets a warning and a lesson from Al.

You didnt see his cards, but you should have seeen his chips going in to pot. Maybe you should pay a little more attention. This was a good lesson, dont give your cards away before the pot is pushed...
