Re: Devastating 30 BB hand

At first glance over the action, I was surprised to see you fold the river. Are you really losing 96.5% of the time here?

To expect him to miss at a higher rate than that is YOUR error, not his.

Adjust your play and your expectations accordingly.

Re: 2 tough overpair spots

I didn't raise hand 1 because I didn't think I had any shot at thinning the field, and acting out of position in the family pot I thought I'd conceal the hand and go for a set or c/r undercards.

Re: The calling stations in our life.....

One of my favourites.

I really enjoyed this post. I guess I don't really realize how lucky I am that my family and friends don't really question my poker playing much. I'm far from full time but...

2 tough overpair spots

Only been playing a few minutes so no real reads, but I've been running the tables so far.

I'm still learning how to play overpairs properly multi-way. On the second hand I really wasn't aiming...

Re: Too aggressive? (3 examples)

1. Check-raising high PP's, especially twice, especially against unknowns, will get you into a lot of trouble. I prefer playing it straightforward and reevaluating.

Hand 2 looks good to me. I...

Re: My 999th Post

Great post man, well put. I especially like the mention of keeping poker money separate from "life" money. Rec players like us have the luxury of doing so, and I would recommend it in a heartbeat for...

Re: AQ, multiple bets, no showdown, and I\'m lost

I don't see how you can call this preflop. This is fold or raise ( I would tend towards fold). Other then that it looks fine.

Re: When to take one off on the flop?

In MP facing a raise with so many to act behind I fold PF.

But considering how it played out, take one more.

Re: Bottom Pair + Fl. Draw

The reason why I wouldn't believe it to be a big hand is because of the passivity of the rest of the table; given the play from most others there he would have been much more likely to not get in any...

Bottom Pair + Fl. Draw

Button was LAGy, table was passive overall. Not sure about this flop play. I thought it would conceal my hand and that I had about enough outs to make it worthwhile.

Re: When you have more money than you need

Well put. If he really needs to get rid of it, the earlier post about giving it away also works. If it's just going to sit in the OP's Neteller account forever, it would be much better used in a...

KK, just a question of when to give up

Not sure if the bet on the turn was worthwhile, or if I should have just stopped there. Both weer loose passive, 30+/9/1 over about 100 hands.

Re: AA on a tough board

Thanks for all the replies. I knew I should have raised somewhere, but I wasn't sure where. I'm feeling like the turn would have been right.

AA on a tough board

How's my line on each street? I think I just wimped out when the limper was the one that bet out. I thought I might raise the turn if I backdoored a flush draw but when the blank came I froze up.

Re: Value of Your Roll/Risk Aversion

Makes sense. So just to be difficult, maybe I can modify it and say he's about to get up and leave the table after this hand.

I've been playing smallstakes holdem' for a few years now. I am at the point where I can't afford the bankroll for 3/6 or more, so I primarily play 2/4 or 1/2.

Value of Your Roll/Risk Aversion

I was lying in bed last night and this thought came to me: you're sitting HU against a guy who really has no value for money. He's first to act but you've foolishly looked at your cards first. You...

Re: A trifecta of poorly played hands.

I don't mind hand 2. I think the turn bet on hand 3 is pretty key. Hand 1 is just a tough go all the way, but I don't think I'd take it past the turn. It seems to be the kind of hand I can't play...

Re: (Live 3/6) -- AA in the SB

I'll pose a hypothetical, just for fun: What do people think if the turn was instead Td? Does this make a standard fold on the river, or do you think villain has AQ often enough to make this call...

Re: 88 flops set and gets action

I like betting the river, because I can think of some hands that a passive post-flop player in MP1 could have played this way(AA, AJ, AK) and you don't want to check it through and lose value against...
