Re: Changing my mind on the river
I think the key here is your subject line: "Changing my mind on the river." Well, obviously it is... or you would have called it something else.
Looks like a clear case of the juicy river card...

Re: apple imac
Much as I love my Mac, it's not optimal for a poker player. If possible, keep your PC for poker, and buy a Mac for everything else. I bought virtual PC, but found out it needed a faster processor...

Re: Terrible River
I can't see any reason to call here. Maybe there is one opponent in 100 that will bet that river with his K kicker or pair of fours, but I'd sure like to meet him. He played it exactly like an Ace...

It's my hotel of choice, mainly due to the price and proximity to the Bellagio poker room. In fact, there is a little expressway that takes you from the Bally's lobby straight to the Bellagio.

Re: Going ape
Of course he's not. But that's an argument for calling, not raising. No one would dare suggest he fold. But continuing to put in raises headsup when you're a dog and your opponent is showdown...

Oh, i'm all for gambling.
I've eaten more than one hot dog from LA street vendors.
For the first four bets I'd be thinking "WOO HOO!! I'M GAMBLING!!" Maybe even for two more. Then I'd get...

Re: Going ape
His hand reading skills are immaterial. You're on a draw. It's a great draw, but it's a draw. He's not on a draw. He has SOME piece of that flop, and it sure looks like a set. The KJ vs. QQ...

Re: 6 bet turn with a set
Looks like exactly JT to me. You knew nothing of the player, so you had no reason to suspect otherwise. What did you put him on?
You lost two more bets than you should have.

Re: 8-16 hand
Why do you highly doubt KQ?
With the preflop action, I think we can safely rule out AQ, as he would most likely have raised UTG. QJ suited seems reasonable, but then why does he bet the river...

Re: 8-16 hand
A8 suited? Which suit, exactly?
That'd be an awfully bad checkraise.

Re: Odd river bet? PartyPoker 5-10
I think you made the fundamental point here. The time to punish the "auto-raise" is on the turn, not on the river. On the river, it's a lot easier for him to lay down his bluff, but when you...

Like I said before, betting the turn is futile if you're going to check behind on the river.

I'm not sure I understand this, so here are my questions:
A) What makes...

Re: Keep firing? PartyPoker 10-20
If you check the turn, do you plan to call the river if a blank hits? It would be a shame to lose this pot to a missed draw because you showed weakness on the turn. You're better off firing again...

Re: Easy AQ laydown?
What did you put the BB on? Do you think he'd play the flop so aggressively with a 5? Seems unlikely.
The coldcalls by the MP look like a flush draw. He'd no doubt come alive on the turn if he...

Re: Short-handed...am i nuts?
As long as you can fold to a raise, I think it's fine.
If he just calls, I'd check the river and hope he gets nervous and checks behind. But I'd call a bet.

Re: The Ole\' KK Double Checkraise.
I think you played it well.
I think your opponent played it horribly. He set up a turn check, got it offered to him, refused it, and paid off a hand he knew he couldn't beat.
Horrible.

Re: 15 30 Hand
If you think he's on a pure steal, why raise? How can he possibly call? Sounds like you made a read (something like a four-flush, perhaps?) and didn't stick to it on the river.
If it was a pure...

Re: JJ - Looking For Leaks
I'll agree with the rest. There are times to value bet on the river. This is not one of those times.
You'll only be called by better hands. You'll lose a BB when beat, and gain nothing when...

Re: 87s 20-40
hmmmmm.... maybe I'm missing something, but i don't see how you can so confidently put SB on QcJc. He threebet the turn, which could mean any 7, or of course, any QJ.
Your turn raise suggests...
