With J8s in the big blind facing an EP raise and a few callers I am not looking as much at my current odds but my implied odds. In this situation I am not expecting to win with top pair but hope...

I'm a relative beginner but you should probably think about game selection in addition to what the others have mentioned. I not only look for the softest games I can find but there are certain types...

I hope I'm not missing something obvious but what calculation do you use to convert 8 outs to a 31% equity? Do you adjust your equity edge by counting partial outs?

I think 2 things you have to consider when making your decision are, size of the pot, and your position. If the pot is big, perhaps you raised and had 4 callers, and on the flop your call would...
