Re: Calling any two suited cards from the small blind ???????

You’re absolutely right: the decision entails only 0.5 a bet not a full bet. At 5% you could call almost anything in the model. After translating to the real world, the rule now makes a lot more...

Re: Calling any two suited cards from the small blind ???????

If all players called then a 10% + probability of winning would be needed for a positive expectation of winning against so called “random hands.” That cutoff occurs in about the top 70% of the 1328...

Calling any two suited cards from the small blind ???????

Last night someone on Party Poker gloated about winning a large pot after calling 72s from the small blind for 0.5 a small bet. SSHE and HPFAP recommend calling any two suited cards from the small...

Max Win Rate of 100

I can’t quite believe what happened to me this morning. I was sick and hadn’t been able to sleep so I decide it would be play money. I took the standard buy in of 250 for 5-10 on Party Poker. I was...

Re: Updated Software Reviews

The simulations in TTH are “rules-based” instead being based on an expected value. This limits you to simple concepts such as "never draw to an inside straight" irrespective of the pot odds....

Re: Probability of hitting a flush from flop to turn

The probability of making the flush by the river plus the probability of not making the flush by the river must add to 1. It’s easier to calculate the probability of not making the flush on two...

Re: straight odds

There’s a quicker way to approximate this using the “rule of four.” You have 8 cards that can complete your two way straight draw by the river. Multiply these outs by 4 to get a 32% probability of...

Turbo Texas Hold’em (TTH) and Poki’s Poker Academy (PPA) seem to me to be more realistic than playing online for play money but both are tighter than most low limit games. Both of them allow you to...

Re: The Quantitative Impact of Partial Outs?

So my contrived example drove out all these other strong but non-nuts draws and forced the 4 tens. It all makes sense now. Excellent Ed! Thank you very much for your help.

Re: The Quantitative Impact of Partial Outs?

An average of what Ed? ZManODS missed the point. The subtlety here is that we are drawing to the NUTS so the worst that could happen is that we could tie. My underlying concern is that the process of...

The Quantitative Impact of Partial Outs?
