Re: Hand Vs Good Player
If the only information you have is that your opponent is a good thinking player, I think just about any line here is fine as long as it's not the only line you'd take.
If you had more specific...

And she's not hot.

I dunno, raising the river for value with bottom pair and getting paid off is pretty hot in my book.

I check-raised the river. Villian 3-bet. I called and lost to AA.
I think it was the right line given that I thought it was a toss up between 99 and AA. Preflop play would lean towards AA...

Re: river action with KK
I think he's asking the question from the point of view of my opponent, who is a solid TAG. If you had 99 here, would you raise a river bet?
Would you even cap the turn with AK? What hand...

Re: river action with KK
I'm worried about winning the most from 99/AK and losing the least to AA. Although after I cap pf and 3-bet the turn, I think chances are extremely slim that he has AK, so it's either 99 or AA. I'm...

Re: Party 30/60: Fancy Play Syndrome?
definite FPS. Bet the flop. On the river MP1 isn't folding a better hand, and it's very unlikely UTG has anything. What pair hand do you think UTG is likely to have played here that makes you so...

Re: I know I have the worst hand... so I raise.
I think the chances an overpair folds is slim, but you might have up to 14 outs so you don't need a fold from a better hand very often to justify it. Raising here is ok as long as you know AA will...

Re: AQ RIVER TP. LELAISE OR CALL?
3-bet.
Not a good place for a check-raise on the river, IMO. Would he always bet a small-medium pocket pair if checked to in that situation? How about AK?

Re: AA river decision
BB has given you no indication that he has anything better than perhaps a medium pocket pair, so I don't see how he can fold when you may be raising the river with JJ/TT.
If I were BB and I had...

Re: AA river decision
I think given this board, it would be hard for BB to laydown a smaller overpair. I'd given him a chance to call. I think chances that the goofball has you beat are extremely slim. I think if you...

Re: Flop and Turn decision 99...
Another issue to consider is that you are trying to protect your hand not just from the original raiser, but also the 3-bettor. Also, I think that it is more likely that the 3-bettor would have 2...

Re: Flop and Turn decision 99...
My reason for a pf cap would not be to fold out BB or the original raiser, although that would be nice. It is sort of for momentum and sort of for folding equity. Many times in these LP...

Re: Flop and Turn decision 99...
I think the hand becomes easier to play if you 4-bet pre-flop. Given that you didn't, your line is ok, although most of the time I'd prefer just c/ring the flop. Were you folding to a river bet?

Re: River action
Def a call. Could be something like AK/AQ with A of diamonds bluffing hoping you'll fold a pair. I can't see someone that aggro not raising the flop or turn with a huge draw.

Re: I KNOW it\'s the Devil\'s Hand......
If villian is the type that likes to raise/3-bet flop for a free turn, then donk bet the turn. If he likes to check through river, donk the river. Basically just make sure at least one bet goes in...

I think it would be different if this were a full game and/or you weren't opening in the CO. But because of that, your opponents' ranges of hands are pretty wide and I think you do have the best...

Re: expert play or lapse in judgement?
This is pretty bad, unless there are some very specific reads involved, but at this point, I'm not even sure what reads you'd need to make this an "expert" play.

Re: I play bad, but was the river \'sexy\'?
Well played. You likely have the best hand on the flop anyways. River sexy is good because your opponent is unlikely to raise you with a bare A on this semi scary board and you give K high a chance...
