Re: Results

On the second hand, I checked and my opponent checked behind. Hand history shows he had KK.

Yeah. Beetman touches upon a good point, one that I failed to note in my OP:

On the turn, you read...

Re: Omaha/8 - Am I Too Tight Pre-Flop

But I think you are calling too much in the small blind.

We can't draw this conclusion on numbers alone. In a low-limit O8 game where the pot is never raised preflop, 27% is much too tight. In a...

Re: 2 Tough PP Pineapple Hands

EP open raises, 3 callers, I call in my BB with 2 /forums/images/icons/club.gif 5 /forums/images/icons/club.gif 7 /forums/images/icons/spade.gif

My Pineapple experience is very limited, so I'm...

Re: One more hi low hand..

This is a pretty standard hand, and there's not much you could do differently. Raise that AK42ds from the SB or BB or wherever you are, it really doesn't matter.

Flop bet is good, with 2nd-nut...

Re: Second nuts for hi and lo in O8

I have no problem with the flop or turn play.

You didn't mention any player stereotypes, but headsup on the river I'd only bet here against a known fish -- the type who would draw to a straight...

Re: 5 Card Draw - breaking up 2 pair before the draw

It looks like Mason might finally start getting some orders for "Winning Concepts in Draw and Lowball".

I hope so. All the strategy in the book assumes California draw, with jacks-or-better to...

Re: Stop n\' Go

Precisely. It's for this reason I usually reserve my stop-and-go maneuevers for situations like top-two against a single frisky opponent. Stop-and-go generally screams vulnerability.

Re: Raising Ax suited on the button

Playing LL. 3 limpers to you on the button, you hold Axs. The blinds are passive, you expect the SB to complete and the BB to check. How low would the x have to be to not raise?

Assuming the...

Re: Thoughts during a hand.

I'm a bit perturbed that no advocated a preflop raise from the post, especially in the cutoff, after two early-position posters checked their option.

Re: Do I reraise

Kojak beat me to the punch -- not pounding the turn is pretty bad. Your flop cold-call and turn raise should be setting off panic buttons, but apparently they're not. Punish 'em.

I would also...

Re: No Paradise, No Virgins: Oh No!!!

A lovely concept, but hardly original. As legend has it, General Pershing employed this very technique to quell a Muslim uprising in the Philippines nearly 100 years ago. Think bullets caked in pig...

O8: Flopped full

Typical $2-4 O8 game. Two not-very-good players limp in, SB completes, and you raise out of your BB with AKK2. Everyone just calls.

Flop is KQQ with a two flush -- you have the dry ace of this...

Re: funny hand

I once had open quad jacks and got called three times.

OK, I guess I should mention that it was a Stud/8 tournament, but still, it was a pretty funny sight.

Re: Omaha post-flop strategy

I have also heard it is okay to see the flop cheaply with A3, but not 23. This confuses me. It would seem to me that if you will only be looking for the nuts, in both cases you would need a card for...

Re: Omaha post-flop strategy

One subject I cannot recall reading about in Ray Zee's book is when you flop trips (not a set). Here are some sample hands and flops. Any comments you may have regarding the play of flopped trips...

Buy a crossword puzzle book. If anyone asks, tell them you get bored between hands.

Re: basic omaha 8/b - raise or call

I think in a game like this, you're slightly more likely to get two cold-callers of a raise than four callers for a single bet, or one cold-caller instead of two single callers.

Also, as you...

The players who folded may be morons, but not because they folded. In order to be eligible for the $100 bonus, you have to have ordered a "virtual margarita" at your table. If someone doesn't have...

Amp\'s contribution to the essay contest

After the turn we like 10 cards on the river. Kc, Th, Td, Tc, 7s, 7h, 7d, 6s, 6h, 6c. We don't like the rest, but to varying degrees. Anything that enables low cuts the pot in half for us.

First...

Re: Why are we different 2

Now I want to ask a question about a different spectrum of players. These players seem to be in the middle of good and bad. Lets call them average.

They think they know a lot about poker but what...

Re: General Omaha 8ob questions

1) The top two with backdoor low is usually ahead, but it ranges from slight favorite to coinflip depending on the sidecards.

2) The A2 with four-flush is slightly ahead on the merits of his...

Well, your fives were good the whole way, but the one plus is that you didn't have to show down your hand.

Make sure you remember how you played your "AK" next time, when you actually have it,...

Re: Bizarre Planet tournament trend

The $10 lowball tournaments are often just as looney as the freerolls/PPEs, since it's mostly the same players, just a smaller field of them.

I once busted in a $10 when I raised with a pat 7,...

Re: Results

Thought so. This is one of those situations where it helps to have a book on your opponents. There are a lot of players who always play top-pair-no-kicker out of position this way, and that was...

Ack!

Too vague!

It's often right to fold without hesitation, and it's often right to be driving the betting.

The only generalization I can make is that you can often lean towards a fold if there...
