Re: Ravens vs Browns
I like to use the Football Outsiders Weighted DVOA ratings, I basically convert them to point spreads, factor in a home field advantage and adjust for injuries subjectively. It's worked out pretty...

New to middling - how big of an edge is needed
I've read the FAQ and a few posts, and I want to try middling some games - so I'm wondering what is needed in terms of a spread.
For example, if one team is favored by -2.5 -110 on one site, and...

Re: Fun with AKs
If you check the flop and it gets checked by the cutoff (possible since he didn't raise you), you have options on the turn.
If it's bet, you can raise and knock some people out - heck if the flush...

Re: a slow play
I say bet the flop. He expects you to bet, since you 3-bet pre-flop, and he could easily take that for a bluff and try to raise you off the hand or something.
Instead if he does have the flush...

NFL scoring
I noticed that last week, scoring was only 35.9 PPG, down from the season average of 41.8 PPG. Is that typical for this time of year, or was it just an abberation of some kind? 6 of the 16 games were...

Re: AA34 ds hand
Heh, okay!
MP1 called the 300.
Okay, now I’m scared. She could be calling with a naked A2, since she’s a bad player, but something like QQ is still scaring me. But if she had QQ, she would have...

Re: Winners/Losers PLO8
My database has 4370 hands and is 62/38 mostly at $200 buy-in, with some $500 and very little $50 and $100. Don't forget the rake. I think that's a bigger factor than survival bias, but I could be...

Thanks for the advice guys. What is a reasonable waiting period before posting the results? Or do you not even care?

Re: AA34 ds hand
Thanks for the tip on the not raising pot frequently enough (I hope I read that correctly).
You are right - this is not a 'strong' opponent, so maybe I underestimated a little there on the range...

I'm going to Vegas next month, just wondering if PLO8 is spread anywhere out there or anywhere else live for that matter. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Seperate PLO8 and Limit O/8 Forums?
I agree, the number of posts seems to be a pretty silly criteria if you ask me. Obviously there are enough posts to warrant bringing up the question in the first place, which should be all that...

Re: Seperate PLO8 and Limit O/8 Forums?
I agree that a separate forum should be set up. Thought it was kind of obvious that is was necessary, just never bothered suggesting it. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

So really, I should be calling in these spots? I guess I can see it with the explanations, but that's an awfully tough call to make (although you did say you had a read and you'd seen the guy try...

I have to get it into my thick skull that only chasing half the pot in that situation is not a good idea.

I believe it shows that you built a situation where he would have to fold a pretty strong hand getting 5.75:1 odds (assuming he's going to call your check raise and river bet, he'll win $46 when he's...

Re: AA all in preflop question
I don't think you can add the probabilities like that. Many of the boards (all of the flush boards) that will win for KQ, KJ, QJ will overlap, for example.
EDIT - my post was in response to...

Re: AA all in preflop question
The 876 is better because two of the straight cards (the AA) aren't missing . . . Also, the high card value doesn't mean anything because the AA will always be the top pair, either way you need to...
