Re: Addiction is a disease?

Furthermore, I think in many studies, you may not be looking at a homogenous group. What way do you have of seperating real physical addicts from the types of sociopaths who flunk out of college...

Re: Addiction is a disease?

All of that is very well and good if we are talking about those sorts of decisions that are made before physical dependence has set in. Once the physical imperatives set in then all bets are off.

Re: Addiction is a disease? (My experience)

I am an ex-boozehound. I got physically dependent on it and it sucks. Physical withdrawal is unbelievably painful. It is sort of like a combination of extreme panic like anxiety (someone chasing...

Re: Table Selection Online

Hey TV.

I started out also at nano-limits grinding it out through each level. First play money, then .01/.02, .02/.04, .05/.10, .10/.20 and am now at .25/.50.

I have seen quite a bit of advice...

Re: A challege for wussies like me

Good luck on you challenge.

I can relate to the risk-aversion. I have love to book small wins and call it a day (maybe 15-20bb's). And I don't move up until I have booked 1000bb's at each level....

Is there a simple tool that tracks table saw flop or VPIP on Party?

I know that PT with add-ons does this. But if all I cared about was a program that tracked the PF% (or VPIP) for the table as a whole, what software should I get? I'm not so worried about the cost- I...

Re: A family with a history of addiction ... and me

Hey bro that is a great topic.

I agree with the others that I don't think you have a physiological gambling problem at this point- I think the issue is more to do with your family and...

Re: Just stated by my girlfriend

The other day I was all happy that I had had a good run at my usual .10/.20 game. I was bragging to my girlfriend and she just looked at me and said "Great honey, now we can afford that hot dog we've...

Hugely Irritating Problem- Quitting early after small wins

So I am a winning player at my current limit after a large amount of hands. I figure if I get say 500 hands in a day I will achieve my personal goals for moving up, building my bankroll, etc.

But...

Re: Paradise software- worst ever?

I love Paradise. I think it all depends on what you get used too. If you play a lot on one site everything else seems weird for a while.

From what I've experienced at Paradise, .10/.20 and .25/50...

What software will keep track of PF % on the table I\'m playing on?

I'm not interested for the moment in player analysis. Just a tool that will tell me what the pre-flop percentage (of the whole table) is at the table I'm playing on over the last 10-20 hands or so?

Re: brettbrettr\'s is a prick

I certainly didn't mean to imply that it was the only reason for betting. I was implicitly comparing it to the other options offered on the thread (the check-call and check-raise). His hand is a...

Re: brettbrettr\'s is a prick

Fold pre-flop.

Since you didn't I would've bet for information and folded to the raise. You've got all the information you need in a typical game to release the hand after you got raised. You've...

Re: Avg Flop % at Party .50/1.00 Full?

20's and 30's? I was hoping with all the talk about how fishy the game was that we were talking 40%+.

By the way, the reason I am not datamining it myself is that I don't want to download the...

Re: Reconciling \"Random Walk\" with \"Market Wizards\"

The point of the coin flipping example is that looking back in hindsight, six sigma traders are inevitable. I think this is ultimately how the two books reconcile somewhat. One could argue that...

Re: Reconciling \"Random Walk\" with \"Market Wizards\"

Re: Starting off in micro limits

I took the same approach as you- starting with play money and going up limit by limit. I am at .10/.20 now.

So far Paradise is my favorite site for the nano-limits and have had a good experience...

Avg Flop % at Party .50/1.00 Full?

Does anyone have this number handy from their records? I am playing nanos at Paradise and am wondering how it compares to Party's lowest limit.

Also, (if you do have a number) is your flop...

Re: Is the stock market really +e.v.

I find it hard to believe that stocks (as defined by the S&P, say) would underperform bonds/real estate/gold over the next 50 year period. I'd say the probability of that happening is virtually nil...

Re: I love this guy\'s screen name...(re smilecenter
