Re: AA, 4th suits hits the river

[ QUOTE ]
For folding here to be correct he has to have the spade here 87% of the time. Given an AF of 0.85 I am leaning towards folding but I would appreciate if the statement ".84 AF isn't that...

Re: Post Flop Aggression--SSHE pp 96-97

One thing to remember is poker is all about pot odds and equity. With the exact same cards, a raise may be incorrect in a 10 sb pot but correct in a larger pot.

Re: Simple 77 HU hand.

Well, he's representing trips or a full house. That's pretty unambiguous. So it's a question of whether or not he's bluffing often enough for a call down to be worthwhile. From his stats, he's pretty...

Re: AA, 4th suits hits the river

[ QUOTE ]
Villain is 38.8/10/.84 w/100 hands.

[/ QUOTE ]

These are weird stats. Someone with stats like this is going to make some weird plays occasionally. This is definitely not a typical...

Re: PF Stuff

In both cases, we have a good TAG in lp isolating a superfish. Let's establish a range for him. I'm thinking most (all?) pocket pairs, the stronger offsuit aces, most (all?) suited aces, pretty much...

Re: 10/20 KJ play along

[ QUOTE ]
If we check and it's 2 back to us, we are good approximately 0% of the time.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think this is true. The pre-flop raiser may make a continuation bet with a lot of...

Re: 10/20 KJ play along

Interesting. That's a very dry board. I like a check and see what develops. If the TAG bets and there are at least a couple of callers, I want to checkraise. If one of the loose-passives raise, I may...

Re: 5/10: 88

I'm going to parrot toss's advice again and say check and fold. He seems aggressive pre-flop, but you raised UTG, so his 3-betting range shouldn't be all that large. You're too much of a dog to his...

Re: 5/10: A7s

I'd just go ahead and 3-bet the turn. I like to save river slowplay checkraises (as opposed to hands where I improve on the river) for when I suspect the villain may fold to straightforward...

Re: I am the biggest fish on Party.

[ QUOTE ]
I don't think the flop is a good bet.

[/ QUOTE ]

Okay, I'll bite, since I liked the flop bet at first glance. Is it because we're too much of a dog to BB's range? Is it because...

Re: I am the biggest fish on Party.

For starters, I'd raise pre-flop. I don't always raise AQo in the blinds, but you're only against two limpers, one of which is super-loose. So this looks like a good spot to push your probable equity...

Re: Another hand with Padawon\'s Master

[ QUOTE ]
Yes you're probably dominated by at least one of em (AK, AQ), the other might have a decent pair, 88 or better. Fold while it's still cheap.

Raising the turn vs. Raising the river in Hand 2

I see some disagreement here, so I'm going to spell why I like waiting until the river to raise in Hand 2.

Assumption 1: The villain is loose enough and aggressive enough that we're still a...

Re: A Couple of 5/10 Hands...

Soma, I play the 5/10. Of course, I'm not very good at it...

Hand 1: I'd usually make a continuation bet here on the flop unless my table image is crappy. Yes, the Jack is bad news, but you have...

Re: TT vs.a small army of coldcallers

[ QUOTE ]
Isn't this a textbook wait for the turn situation? By 3-betting the flop, we're offering anyone with 4 or so outs the chance to correctly see the turn, and consequently the river....

Re: TT vs.a small army of coldcallers

I just realized that if Button has a made flush on the turn, then we actually have 4 outs to make a full house.

This is a very good point and bears repetition. Those...

Re: Speculative Ax suited.. River decision with position?

Pre-flop I like a raise. If you were in earlier position I might try to limp to encourage a nice family pot, but you're two off the button, and there's a presumed tight player in the big blind. Raise...

Re: two bleh hands from my day.

[ QUOTE ]
In hand 1, why do people like a turn raise so much more than a flop raise? Are the players in the hand capable of folding a jack on the turn to your raise?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd say it's...

Re: Kings

Big pot. I like three-betting to try to whittle down the competition. On the other hand, calling could set up a sweet turn raise if a brick falls. But I like three-betting a little better. Also,...

Re: two bleh hands from my day.

1. Perfect. I love every street. You could fold the turn against some kinds of bad players, but you're giving up too much to fold without the right read. Since you can't fold, a raise is very good....

Re: TT vs.a small army of coldcallers

For those who like bet/folding the turn...

Is there any fear of a free shodown raise? Or a semibluff raise with (for instance) a nine and a club?

Like I said, the villain didn't seem...
