Re: AQ facing a limp min re-raise flops TPTK, lost here.

Sounds like you had a pretty strong read on him being LAG/over-aggro , why not call him down? For those who say this is AA/KK , that's true from a solid player, but LAGs will make this move to...

Re: calling raises with aq

Position is crucial too. I'm now folding AQ in the SB and BB to a raise in a multiway pot, because I'll be OOP and can't win a big pot. (if there's just one LP raiser, it's a different story). ...

Re: KK OOP on an AQ flop

He's opening on the button, presumably his range is much wider in that position. He can have any pocket pair, for example.

Re: 400NL: AQo on SB, call the river?

I would've bet the turn, though that may be wrong. As played you have to call the river. You've shown weakness and a typical LAG will bet here with any two.

Re: First NL Post: Calling W/ TP vs Big River Bet

I fold preflop. KQ oop sucks. On the flop, bet pot size. You need to charge the flush draw properly and show your strength. When he min raises, just call. If you did reraise, put in a real...

Re: Bottom set facing all in

It looks to me like it entirely depends on whether you think he can have AA-JJ here. If his range is QQ-TT,88,44,Ah8h, you're 56% to win and you have to call. If you take out the QQ and JJ, you're...

Re: Bottom set facing all in

aj - Villain is "solid" but doesn't reraise preflop in a 6-way pot with JJ-AA ? Seems unlikely.

Re: c-bet bluff defense?

The simplest defense if someone is doing this is simply to stop c-betting against them unless you have a hand. Then c-bet, if they raise, reraise. If they start giving that too much respect, then...

Re: Bottom set facing all in

Raise pot on flop. I would've called turn, but I can't really see many hands that play this way that you beat !? I think TT plays this way, and you can see the other sets play this way too (88 and...

Re: 5/10: QQ vs. lolo

A simple counting argument would suggest calling here. Lolo can have a monster or air, and there are many fewer hands that make a monster.

Re: I hate blocking bets

[ QUOTE ]

well...duh, sorry to point out the obvious but the idea of a blocking bet is that you bet what you are willing to call, if you think villain will bet less than that there's no point in...

Re: I\'m weak - 88 with Q on flop

Yeah, certainly the check-call is horrible. I guess it's a good idea to just play 88 OOP for set value, and in position I can bet the flop if it's checked. The fact that 88 might be the best hand...

I hate blocking bets

Man, I hate blocking bets. Typical scenario :

Hero with AJ raises 3x preflop, LP calls
flop is J-high with two spades
hero bets pot, LP calls
turn is a blank
hero bets pot, LP calls
river is...

Re: Two hands against some crazy players

Second hand - I think you play it okay (check the river planning on calling any bet, hoping to induce a bluff from the missed flush draw). Possibly better is a value bet on the river. He could...

100 NL : AQ top pair, 3-flush flop

Villain is solid but tricky after the flop and can play some strange things preflop. I'm curious about how people play the flop and the turn. Does anyone just fold the flop? Certainly this is a...

Re: I\'m weak - AQ top pair, check-fold turn?

I just don't see how I can get the information to know if he's on a set, possibly AK, or a worse ace. If I bet again on the turn, it has to be 30-35 and I'm getting most of my stack in with 2nd top...

I\'m weak - 88 with Q on flop

I feel like I'm giving up a lot of value with these type of flops. I'm set mining with the 88, I miss and there's one over. CO (Villain) is also a set miner who's aggressive with his misses and...

I\'m weak - AQ top pair, check-fold turn?

Another dilemma on the turn. Villain is pretty solid, and will attack weakness. Again I feel like checking the turn is just giving the pot away, but betting again is spewing if he has AK or a set ?...

I\'m weak - KK in SB/BB battle

BB is sort of like a 2+2er, TAG but can be tricky and aggressive. Normally with KK when an Ace hits the flop I'm giving up, but I feel like I just surrender the pot here. In a SB/BB battle he can...

I\'m weak - continuation + flush draw goes awry

Villain was on the loose side. When he just calls the flop I can't put him on a K, I rule out KK and a 3 because of the action preflop. His min raise on the turn is funny. Should I not bet...

I\'m weak - ace + flush draw

I'm weak part one. Villains are pretty average players. I'm getting great odds to call to the flush. When the J hits the river it looks to me like trips, so I'm gone. Do I need to check-raise the...

Re: AK Help

Why in the world do you check the turn here? Opponent has shown no strength, he can easily be on the str8 draw or a worse pair. The turn card is a total blank. Do you check-call? Checking seems...

Re: Blind steal turned draw

I'm curious what you all suggest if he raised more preflop, bets 3/4 pot on the flop, and villain just calls, the turn is a blank. Now what?

Re: 5/5 NL...Doing Business????

Hmm.. of course you're right, apparently I suck at math.

BTW I see term 3 as

(1 - N/44) * N/43

which of course is indeed the same as term 2 :

N/44 * (1 - (N-1)/43)
