I must be an idiot /images/graemlins/confused.gif -- I just don't see the difference.

Explain to me how's it's different, Larry.

Hi Larry,
Okay, I lied a little bit. It's actually a .50/1.00 game with standard betting rules (one bet and 3 raises), but everyone's a maniac so it's capped on every street...typically one...

Re: how do you figure this out?
In general, you figure out the number of flops that fit the criteria you define, and divide it by the number of total possible flops. The easy way to do it is by using combinations.
Example. If...

Re: Middle pair, standard fold?
I think folding is the best play. You've got a weak made hand (middle pair no kicker) that's easily outdrawn if ahead (especially with the flush draw on board) and with little chance to improve if...

Re: A9- How often am I Behind?
That wasn't the OP's question though. Who knows what context he had in mind? Maybe he's trying to decide if he should hold onto A9 in a 3-handed 2-card Guts game.

Re: A9- How often am I Behind?
It's about 9.8% that one opponent will have a pair or AK-AT versus your A9.
It's about 18.7% that at least one of two opponents will have your A9 beat.

Re: Odd hold\'em structure
Hi crackhead,
I respectfully disagree. It's not a very interesting or tactical poker game, but it's certainly more poker-y than 2-card guts or acey-deucy.
Although you can't raise, you are...

Hi Larry,
Sorry I wasn't more clear. Although the blinds are .25/.50, the bet preflop is $2. Both of the blinds have to complete to $2 to see the flop.

Re: KK makes set and gets donked...
Well, if you knew that MP1 would 3-bet, then it's 14:3 (unless you think hero would fold to a 3-bet after raising), which makes it a call.
If you knew that MP1 would 3-bet and hero would cap, it's...

Odd hold\'em structure

Re: Laggiest Game Ever
I can't quote it verbatim (I'm at work), but it suggests playing AA-QQ and AKs only. JJ-99 and AQs-AJs it says are profitable, but only barely so, and add a ton of variance. It's on pages 213-215. ...
