No, betting is always better. He's calling with too many worse hands. To check behind, we need to know hes folding worse hands but bluff betting a lot on the river.

I lean towards betting the flop with the BB trapped in the middle, but on the turn you gotta c/r with how you played it, just c/c is terrible and wasting money.
