Re: Who played the hand the worst?

I agree with Myst but especially that check-raise is pretty automatic on this flop. You have 14 immediate outs against the overpair.

Re: Pocket QQs...A on flop

I think the pre-flop raise was OK. Betting any less might provoke a call from the big blind. If he is going to call make him put more chips in. I know 3xBB is fairly common but I often bet 3.5 x BB...

Re: More to a screen name?

All the theory I have read says that screen names are the opposite of the reality, e.g. BigBluffer never bluffs, Tightass is loose, etc. Supposedly, hardly anyone uses the truth as a double bluff.

Re: Standard?

What is your estimate of the EV of these scenarios?
1. Your play.
2. You check the flop and no one bets.
- a. the turn does not help you (and may contain scare cards, e.g. 7...

Re: Is it possible to have 25 in a row out of the money due to just var?

25+ may seem very unlikely due to variance but it will happen to someone and that someone is more likely to mention it. It's like the lottery, the odds are astronomical that you will win it but...

Re: What\'s your line on this hand?

I think limping on the button with KTs is fine.

On the flop I would assume I am winning and even if I'm not I would have a lot of outs. The situation is not right to slow play the hand IMO. I...

Re: $50 NL buyin on Paradise question

I can't answer question 1 but yes the answer to question 2 is yes, learn how to play deep stacks better. I would guess that in the $50 you play tight aggressive and make money from the players who...

Re: Conclusion! (long)

I was waiting for the clever explanation about how you successfully put your opponents on monster hands and brilliantly folded your QQ. If you fold QQ in this position you are over-thinking the...

Re: Hand for review.

When he raises on the turn I would not put him on a heart draw - he wouldn't want a reraise. I'd put him on the straight, trips, 2 pairs or possibly king better kicker. In other words I'd assume I...

Re: Did I play this wrong?

I don't mind the pre-flop bet of 6. I would make it 6, 7 or 8 depending on the game. It sounds like it was a fairly tight game as you only got one caller.

You bet 10 into a pot of 15 (? you didn't...

Re: Whats the play here?

Your biggest mistake was calling on the turn. At that point you have to make your decision. Either you think you are winning and go all in or you don't and fold.

I also agree with a reraise before...

Re: Short stack decision

The only question is whether to wait or take a stand with this hand. Having decided to take a stand saving a bet for the flop rather than going all in immediately seems best. You get a chance to win...

Re: Tourney hand for your enjoyment

I would not have called the raise BTF. But having seen the flop I would play the same as you. Whether you should limp in with 44 is debatable. I know about the implied odds but I have found that...

"In most SNGs, I couldn't throw away QQ."

Me too but with the proviso that chip position is everything. It reminds me of a hand I had in a multi-table tournament where me and one other player had...

Re: KK help

The amount of your raise was 1400 which left you with 800 chips? (400 + 1400 + 800 = 2600). What was the point of keeping back the 800?

Assuming this was NL I would either have gone all in or...

Re: Very large potential leak

It all depends.

Firstly you don't dominate 99% of hands. For the re-raise, depending on the person, you can put them on a range of hands. A very tight player might only have AA or KK. You could...

Re: Very large potential leak

You said the blinds were small. I don't think going all in BTF with TT & JJ is good when you have 1000 and the blinds are 10-20. Your proposition is that you will win 30 chips or lose 1000. I don't...

Re: Gap Concept Violation?

I make it that your raise was 2600 to play and therefore the all in is only for another 1400 each in which case it a no-brainer.

How many chips did your opponent have?

Re: I didn\'t think it was silly

"Are you really pot-committed here, on the bubble?"

Well, maybe, maybe not, but the author stated that he considers himself pot committed if he has 40% to 50% of his chips in before the flop. His...

I didn\'t think it was silly

Yes. Another example might help. 4 players left, 3 get paid. The stacks are 5000, 3000, 800, and you have 2200. The blinds are 150-300. You make it 1000 to play with your AJ, the chip leader has KQ....

Re: One-table NL satellite \"strategy\" ?

I didn't think the extract was strange or stupid. In fact, I think the same way. If no-one ever calls your raises you will always be in the money. Most of the time when I am pot commited before the...

I don't think it matters what actually happened because it would be wrong to take too much notice of the result of one hand. But I'll tell you anyway.

Firstly, to answer a couple of questions, the...

UTG Bubble Question

Pot Limit Holdem, 10 players left on two tables of five, 173,000 chips in play. The last 9 are in the money. You are lowest chips with 7,000 but there are two other stacks that are not very much...

Re: Tournament-question

UTG's minimum raise is suspicious unless he always makes minimum raise. So you would be cautious and just call if everyone else folded. You would be hoping to flop a J.

But then SB reraises...
