Re: Being a donkey from time to time
Well, you'd be pissed if the shoe were on the other foot, surely. Other than that with your chip stack you could afford to try for the kill. You certainly had outs and no real reason to fear that...

Re: Not feared!
Feared? Yeah, there are a few things you can do. Check-raising the loose aggressive players all-in will scare them and may make them think twice about trying to buy pots. Making reraises when someone...

Re: ethics - do you point this out?
[ QUOTE ]
This is very unlikely to happen in a real cardroom, as the dealer knows the hand rankings.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't be too sure! I've witnessed dealers pushing the pot to the wrong player...

Re: Home Poker with Weaker Players
If you're winning, what's the problem? Play your game. Sounds like you've got a basic read on the others. It's not realistic to assume you will win all the time or even a majority of the time....

Re: How do you reduce the shaking tells?
I have this tell, too. I have been playing live for about a year and a half. It has cost me some action. Unfortunately, I am jittery by nature so when I do get the shakes people can see it from the...

Re: Is this result above average?
[ QUOTE ]
I recently started going to a game at my college. $.10/$.20 NLHE, $10 buy-in for first three hours, $20 after that. There were 9 guys total. After 8 hours, I had $300 in front of me. I won...

Re: weekly home poker tourny
So, basically you think this is an ok payout structure:
27 * $20 = $540 prize pool, let's say you pay top 3 finishers:
1st - $270
2nd - $162
3rd - $108
and you get $270

When it comes to starting and maintaining a home game, I would wager that VA and I have both done this succesfully. We show the fish respect by NOT softplaying them, we tear them a new...

Re: Home cash game situation
From the sound of it I think you were ok. People do get confused from time to time and misinterpret actions. That being said, I've seen some do nearly exactly what you described in such a way as to...

I disagree.

Betting into a fish in a home game is not. As far as I'm concerned, it's shooting an angle. For the love of God, you're playing against a guy who has trouble...

I have friends over every two weeks for a single table game. I trust every one of these guys and we play for tiny stakes ($10 rebuy tourneys). I have two small children in my house so I would never,...

First of all, I worry that you might be playing in a game that is over your head. Can you afford to gamble for the stakes you are playing?
Second, you must have some kind of feel for what your...

I think some have missed the point of why this is bad so I will now elaborate:
You did indicate that there was no signalling or whatever before you and your buddy got heads up. Fine, that's noted....

What confuses me is how someone with more than 500 posts needs to ask this question. Of course you want the guy to put money in that he shouldn't. That's how you win.
