Re: 15k Guaranteed Stars Hand - Over+Flush Draw against SS

Better to check-raise the flop, appearances of a draw be damned. It gives you the outs if you are called. He doesn't have to have anything here-- I see the Standard Continuation Bet on Stars all...

Re: nines in limp pot

you could raise preflop but you gotta make it pretty damn solid. like 5k on top-- something that might induce the fold.
it's not fun, but i think the right play is to call the flop bet. this is...

Re: Bubble Play with KK - and alternate play?

It's freakin' kings. You wouldn't be making this post if he turned over QQ or JJ and that happens plenty often enough.
Look, if I have to put an opponent on exactly one hand that beats me, and I...

Re: Question about MTT ROI versus 1 table ROI (Mark Blade)

Yeah... my direct buyins range from $11s to $215s (though not often). Plus a smattering of rebuys, usually $11rs but occasionally the $3rs and $5rs (and in one unfortunate incident last night, a...

Re: Question about MTT ROI versus 1 table ROI (Mark Blade)

Here's a question: how many tournaments played is considered a staistically significant sample size?
Since I became a winning player, I've been pulling a great ROI (I don't have stats before then),...

Re: play these two black sevens

you gotta let it go. if you felt really strongly you could fold them out, you could consider reraising all-in, but that would take a strong read and some guts... plus you'd really rather do it with...

Re: All-in every hand.

If you're prepared to rebuy a lot, start calling him with any better-than-random hand. I don't know exactly what that is, but any pair or ace is a good start, most kings and queens, some suited...

Re: Figured I would start the Nightly REBUY thread early today......

I like rebuys because they let me build a big stack to survive beats and any stupid crap I might pull, as well as survive into the ante rounds, where I can gleefully steal pots much more frequently....

Re: Am now one of two massive chip leaders

done in 13th. i lost half my big stack when my KK got all in with AQ on a Qxx flop and he turned an ace. then it was a fight for survival. i found KQ and with one limper in front (who had limped...

Re: Am now one of two massive chip leaders

Dropped just under 300k at fourth break. Losing races against short stacks, losing an AK to an AQ, getting reraised preflop frequently, that'll do it.

Am now one of two massive chip leaders

This pot puts me at 350k at the 2k/4k/200 level:

Re: Falling asleep = misread

One time I fell asleep during a Party tournament with 4 tables left or so. I woke up at the final table.
I only had about 1BB left but I doubled up the first hand. Second hand I busted, though.

Re: Figured I would start the Nightly REBUY thread early today......

understandable... that's just what I thought when I saw it. I think either a shove or a fold is the best play there. (Unless you have a hand that welcomes action.)

I just caught my rush and I'm...

Re: Figured I would start the Nightly REBUY thread early today......

No shame in folding the button, ya know.
It's just that when the standard raise is 36k, a 30k raise there either screams "I really want a call" or "I'm saving a little more of my stack in case I'm...

Re: I river goot in the Stars 11r.

been watching you for a bit now. didn't like the 30k raise on the button leaving 110k behind-- that was begging for a re-steal.
i'll continue to watch as long as i have something going on in the...

Re: AQs, bubble of 100+9 UB

I ship it.
I'm LAG as hell in these spots though.
I don't think you're deep enough to just call.

Re: Question about MTT ROI versus 1 table ROI (Mark Blade)

I've found MTTs to be extremely profitable. However, you have to understand that there is quite a bit of variance in them, you have to get very lucky to win one, and you can go quite a while between...

Re: I river goot in the Stars 11r.

well, I got boned. Opened with AT, flopped top pair, lost to a slowplayed KK. That was about 2/3 of my stack.
The table was so aggressive I couldn't even find a hand to push in with.
Finally the...

Re: Figured I would start the Nightly REBUY thread early today......

went from top 5 to average stack in the last hand before break. open with JJ, reraised, and I call. flop is QJT. reraiser has AK.
i've been very cold decked this week.

Re: Satellite line check: Value raise turn?

Yeah, the small bet on the turn is almost certainly a draw wanting a cheap card, or a mediocre hand looking for a cheap showdown.

Re: Figured I would start the Nightly REBUY thread early today......

well... i invested $420 but i'm the chip leader at first break of UB's $33r. this means i have to make the final table to profit.
but with 27.5k and the 50-100 level starting soon, it's certainly...
