Re: 1/2 stud hi game on Stars - too aggressive?

Yeah, but even if the jacks were in the hole it would be hard to see them if there was no raising going on. C'est la vie.

1/2 stud hi game on Stars - too aggressive?

Kept betting all the way, alas was rivered. I don't think any of the bets were bad as I kept pressuring my opponent, but should I have eased off the gas on 6th or 7th streets? I wasn't too worried...

Re: Stud 8 and questionable 6th street call?

>>Failing to three-bet on fourth approaches crime-against-humanity territory.

I concur. I usually play aggressively on fourth when I have a solid 4-lo that doesn't appear threatened by a better...

Stud 8 and questionable 6th street call?

Another low-limit game, and I was a little unsure of my play on sixth street. A pair of aces, a good low draw, and I stayed caught between two other players with heavy action. Worked out okay when...

Re: Yet another low-limit stud 8 hand...

You're right Andy, the chicken-call was wimpy indeed. As I said in another post, I think that is one of the toughest flaws in my game at times, a negative mental attitude that prevents me from...

Re: Yet another low-limit stud 8 hand...

No apologies needed, note the response to my own post, in hindsight it was indeed a lousy call.

Re: Yet another low-limit stud 8 hand...

Just one more thought. Should the sixth street call have been a raise with the flush? I think a flaw in my game has been being too pessimistic at times. Odds against a same-suit flush were extremely...

Yet another low-limit stud 8 hand...

Again, it worked out, but I was concerned. My thoughts were: was the call on fifth too loose, and on sixth I agonized over the call fearing a higher flush.

7 Card Stud High-Low ($1/$2), Ante...

Re: Stud 8 low limit hand at Stars - worked out, but any misplays?

Thanks for the feedback. The call was a little marginal, though the player with the scariest board was forced all in. In hindsight, I think the call was a little loose.

Re: Stud 8 low limit hand at Stars - worked out, but any misplays?

Thanks for letting me know about the converter - I wasn't sure why it wouldn't show the summary. I'll look for that option.

Stud 8 low limit hand at Stars - worked out, but any misplays?

This hand worked out well. All the sixes were live, but I'd like some feedback as there were a lot of scary cards out there.

Here's the summary:
Total pot $14.25 Main pot $10.30. Side pot $3.45....

Misplayed low-limit stud 8 hand heads up?

Think I might have misplayed this hand, losing to trip sixes. Was hard to get away from as I had a pair and felt I had a better low draw, so stayed with my opponent. Any feedback would be...

Was this hand played wrong? (.50/1, Stars stud 8)

Parrothead77 is me, and I think this was played fine. I wondered when Tex said "LOL," but he said he just thought it was funny, not the way I played it. I'd be curious to see what my fellow 2+2'ers...

Re: beginner book

I wrote a book on 7-stud that has been trashed on this forum /images/graemlins/blush.gif). Seriously, it has some flaws, but is geared for the beginning player. It needs to have some greater depth to...

Re: Stud 8: 3 low with 3 to straight or flush on 5th or a pair

You're not calling raises when you catch bananas on fourth, are you?

Of course not, didn't you read that section in my e-book? /images/graemlins/blush.gif) I'm even very cautious about calling...

Re: Stud 8: 3 low with 3 to straight or flush on 5th or a pair

Okay. As I said, I do not want to paint the impression that these hands are played by me very often; rather under just rare circumstances. Perhaps a...

Stud 8: 3 low with 3 to straight or flush on 5th or a pair

I have my own thoughts on this pesky hand but was wondering what the forum thought on stud 8 hands where you are looking at three to a good low but have caught brick-brick and have a three-straight...

Re: A stupid river fold in 3/6

I like betting the turn because:

-It disguises your hand.
-You have so many outs that in fact you don't even need to worry much about being raised, particularly if it stays three-handed.
-If you...

Re: A stupid river fold in 3/6

Btw, some people will say check, but betting this turn is a great way to disguise your hand, and it's for value if both of them call.

Hmm...Yeah, I'd check because I bet on the flop to buy a free...

A stupid river fold in 3/6

Howdy,

Thought I'd get your thoughts on this play. I'm in a slightly loose hold 'em game at my local B&M, 3/6. Things are up and down, and in the little blind I'm dealt 86 of spades. I limp, and...

Re: Clearing up some stuff on my book

Paul, you handled the criticisms really well. Unfortunately at the same time, your defense is, "ya, the book sucks, but its not my fault.."

I didn't intend to sound like I think my book sucks...

Clearing up some stuff on my book

Hi,

Just was browing through the posts and I'd thought I'd try to defend myself on my book.

First, Andy said the book was "over-simplified." Cardoza Publishing was kind enough to offer me a...

Re: Paul Kammen\'s book

Ok, just a few more comments...

Kammen says never to raise with three to a flush. I won’t expound on why I disagree with this here, but I’m guessing that most of you are in my camp anyway.

On a...

Re: Paul Kammen\'s book

Kammen's book is very bad. To even mention it as comparable to West's is a joke. Kammen has NOT played much -- he wrote the book while studying to become a priest. I assume he now is a priest, and...

Hi there,

Well, a few comments on Kammen's book, and seing how as I'm the author I thought I'd post a few /images/graemlins/blush.gif) These quotes are from Andy's posts...

Does anyone, and I...
