Re: Totally lost TPWK - weird hand
My read is that BB has a premium hand. He's calling your raise, and then immediately baiting the PFR with a small flop bet. I'd say TT+ are really very likely from villian.
With that being said,...

Re: Results
Probably would have gotten another 25$ out of him if you hit the turn for 75$, but overall not the end of the world. He priced himself out of his draw, but I think we've all seen that this probably...

Re: KK - Deep stacks
I see your temptation to check the turn, seeing how you probably told yourself oh god, here I go playing a big pot with one pair out of position. I've definately done the same thing and flipped to a...

Re: use chat to outplay your opponents? (lc)
I'm a big fan of using chat to your advantage. Banter is part of the game, granted it doesn't have to be nasty, but poker is a psychological game. I respect those folks who want to play "above...

Re: Live 1-2 NL
Might be missing something here, but it looks like the pot was ~75 on the flop...I'd say 30 was way too small to get any idea of where you stood. I'd have made it 60 on the flop...which hopefully...

Re: Another AK Flops TPTK & Gets Raised
I wouldn't re-raise the flop. Seems like BB could easily be trying to pick off a continuation after suspecting a blind-stealing raise and continue from the SB.
I'd have probably taken the same...

Re: Table Selection / Short Stacks
Doh. It figures that one of the more respected and presumably solid players immediately disagrees with me, hehe.
Do you hate the extra variance and extra irrationality of their play?

Table Selection / Short Stacks
Greetings...
I've been giving some thought lately to my personal table selection process, and was wondering how other people go about a couple things. I'm a 100NL player currently, but I've been...

Re: strange set hand
Hmm, interesting.
MP open min-raised. Must have a little something, PP or Ax could be likely.
On the flop, he check/calls a bet and a raise. Unfortunately, your raise wasn't nearly big enough...

Re: SSNL F.A.Q. v2.0
Great post. That is all, great post.
Only one little quirk I found immediately:
"There are three main factors in determining which games you should be playing.
Your bankroll
Your skill...

Re: Result and lesson
Thanks for breaking down the "lesson". It seems all obvious, and it probably is to a lot of the readers, but for a novice like myself, succinct mantras like that really help to hammer the point...

Re: Who played this worse
I think you're about to win a real nice pot.
Only hands that beat you are KK, QQ, 99, KQ, K9, K8, Q9, Q8.
KK/QQ are out. 99 would have thrown in a raise on a draw-heavy board by now. KQ...

Re: Trash talking your opponent - ethical?
I'm in favor of this being a completely acceptable maneuver.
Deception is the name of the game. Making moves designed to get your opponents to play their worst is the name of the game.
They...

Post-flop fold?
MP has been spewing chips, and was generally very loose. He was pretty passive, so that should have affected my decision I think. His raise worried me due to the passive factor, but I couldn't see...

Thanks all for the replies.
David - Of course, you're right. I don't have enough empircal data to begin to claim that this is a statistical fact. It's nothing more than a hunch that I've...

Point well taken on that particular board. He was screwed in a major way.
But what about when it's clear that someone has TPTK on an ace-high board that hit you a nasty rag straight? Might get...

Move of Honor/Maritime Justice [NC]

Playing a bunch of 25NL 6-Max on Party, I've cultivated a maneuver that seems to part folks with their stack nearly every time in the right situation. I've read a bunch of posts...

Re: Top pair rivers trips, facing an all-in

No expert here, but things are definately complicated as the flop came with both a straight and flush draw (thanks, Captain Obvious!). I think it's unlikely that he flopped the...
