Re: KJo in the BB
More literal than pedantic. I mean, every edge is worth pushing, right?
Yes. I'm not good enough postflop to raise 66 here. I am to raise KJ.

Re: KJo in the BB
All that said, raising here isn't the worst play in the world, but it is worse than calling.
Yup, I agree.

Re: KJo in the BB
You never told me if you were raising A5s and 66, ATo, A9o, and A8o, KTo, QJo, or 55. Each of these have an equity edge over the same field listed in your KJo hand.
Pedantic much?

Re: KJo in the BB
It's especially troublesome to me that someone might say that this is an easy raise, without qualification or understanding of how much equity he/she actually has in this situation.
I agree. ...

I don't think the little edge you have preflop here is worth pushing
Every edge is worth pushing.

That's bullshit hyperbole, and you know it.
I agree.

Re: KJo in the BB
Let me quickly state something here. While I raise KJo in this BB, I've repeadetly said that it's a small edge in EV to do so. As such, it's not terribly rellevant to long term winrate independly. ...

Re: KJo in the BB
I know that my opponent's most likely action postflop is calling in this game, and I know that by raising preflop, I make it more mathematically correct for them to do what they love: call.
You...

I suspect that if he did withhold recommending raising it for variance reasons instead of value, he would have stated such.
I suspect not.
I suspect he wanted a clear bright line of EV for...

Re: KJo in the BB
JJ and AJs are still common enough limping hands that I think it is fair to estimate that they will still be out there.
Let's assume they're not.
What do your numbers look like then?

Re: KJo in the BB
Huh? What does variance have to do with this? This is long-term we are talking about, not short-term.
Long term, the raise clearly makes more money.
There's not much of an argument otherwise,...

The added fact that you are often making it profitable for a hand like A8 to call on an KJ8 flop is also something to consider. If your opponents are likely to call anyway, it is worth considering...

P. 88, SSHE:
You often make an important trade off when you raise before the flop. When you have a pot equity edge, your raise has an immediate positive expectation because you will win more than...

My equity calculations were being generous (as your average limpers are not 55-60% VPIP'ers) to compensate for the fact that I did not remove certain hands from the range. I can remove those hands if...

I'm saying I may not make a +EV play if it gives me a higher chance of making a much more +EV play later, and just as importantly, decreases my chances of making a -EV play later in the hand.

I asked you a simple question: are you raising A5s here?
I asked you a simple one. Are you not making +EV plays pre-flop because it's too hard for you to deal with postflop?

Or do they take the fact that it's limped...

But what I worry about is bloating the pot with an offsuit hand. People will have correct odds to call with gutshots on the flop almost definitely.
Same is true of AKo. You'd raise that here,...

This assumes that KJo can be assigned +EV from this position in the first place. A line has to be drawn for the hands that are worthy of a bet in the BB.
With three limpers, a hand like KJ is...

Smasharoo- Lots of players(including myself) don't raise KQo from the BB after this many limpers.
I'm aware of that.
You should, however.
