Re: Tricky turn decision, trickier river

The turn call is close, but I make it. I'd give you about 4 outs for the gutshot and 1.5 between your A and Q. So with approximately 5.5 outs, and getting 7:1 it's just a call. River is easy call.

Yeah, easy turn bet. It's the last bet I put in the pot UI, however.

[/ QUOTE ]

So you check/fold the river right? Not check/calling?

Ok. Let's assume for the moment that all of you who would check the flop are correct. Why? I gave my reasons why I thought a flop bet was correct what are your reasons for thinking that...

I really think a better line is to check call the river, especially against an unknown.

And you didn't bet out on the flop because? You needed to narrow the field and gain info on the flop. Bet it.

You really couldn't pick a worse flop to auto-bet, given...

if you call a raise on the turn and then you c/r when you improve on the river, i call it the "scribbity"

Looks good. Flush draws, QJ, worse 10s, pocket pairs will often play it like this.

Even with the read? Fish dont usually semi-bluff etc

i have two lines here that i like better.
my main line here against a passive player is to reraise the flop, bet turn, and check river UI.
alternately, you could just use the free...

Re: JJ in the small blind

I think you need to pitch it on this flop. You're drawing to around 3 outs with the backdoor, not near enough to continue.

I do, however, like this line against a guy that's over-aggro but not a complete idiot.

isn't a spazztard pretty likely to go off for multiple bets on the flop or turn with a draw or made hand(less than he'd put in on the river) and/or check/call the river with a hand with...

Yeah, I cap it up too. Like others said, it's going to be AQ/88 here much more often. This guy looks like he may be a LAG too so it may even be something worse

Do you expect a 22pfr to 3-bet an UTG raise with A8s here? Do you expect AK to cap the turn? These both seem close to me, but I'm not sure they do.

Re: Get to Showdown Get to Showdown Get to Showdown

Well, I'm folding pre-flop. An UTG raise 5-handed from a TAG is much different than a button open. Given how you played it, I think once he raises that flop, you should be calling the bet and giving...

You really should be 3-betting that flop when it comes back to you.

Re: 4-flush on turn, bet or check-call?

Looks good here. Like Dave said, there are certain players where checking behind on the turn and calling 1 on the river is the better play, but this doesn't look like that type of player.

Re: checking or betting here?

Yeah, I'm betting that turn. He'll make some loose flop peels that will fold the turn. Gotta fold that river, however.

Re: was this a bad play?

Not sure about the turn raise here. You almost always need to improve here to win.
