Re: BB Special: call an all-in w/o the nuts?

I call. It seems too rare of an occurance for someone on $1-2 to make such an aggressive move at the pot when they actually have the nuts. Seems much more likely that he has a set and is praying for...

Re: I am making my formal retirement from poker.

True Fact: over 90 of 100 poker players are lifetime losers. Although, no, the game is not rigged, statistics like this are a bit daunting to say the least. If you feel you are in the "over 90"...

Re: Top two pair facing an all-in $50NL

Change of mind: if the player who c-raised you was a good, solid player with a large stack (over $75, say) i might consider mucking, but even then probably not. But when it is a short-stack whose...

Re: Top two pair facing an all-in $50NL

You called AK pre-flop, which automatically assumes that you are not afraid of your opponents holding either AA or KK. Therefore, on a flop of AK6 rainbow, the ONLY hand that beats you is 66. Unless...

A simple bankroll question:

I am (most of the time) a winning player. If I play $1-2 nl with a bankroll of $2000 (10x the maximum buy in of $200), am I in any danger of going bust, barring a really horrible run of cards? I'm...

Re: Poker Stars doesn\'t offer true Hold\'em

Also, lets keep in mind that Sir Hoyle never actually played poker /images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Re: Poker Stars doesn\'t offer true Hold\'em

this seems to me like an mute point. You say that since they don't burn cards this sets the order of cards for the entire hand, while a game where cards are burnt involves random shuffling throughout...

Re: Poker puzzle

My feeling here is that you have to play very aggresivly from the SB with strong hands. You can pretty much assume that the two chip leaders will be betting almost all hands in order to take the BB...

"By the way this post has nothing to do with this particular hand its more about the theory of EV that has been used throughout the replies. But it does beg the question – is the poster...

Re: Why on earth are they mad?

lol, they sit around all night, praying for some fool like you to walk in there, and when it happens, they get pissed. Man, if you can keep dragging huge profits playing like this, my hat's off to...

Re: What\'s your strategy for dealing psychologically with bad beats?

If it truly was a bad beat:
1) Affirm yourself the fact that you did in fact play the hand correctly.
2) Affirm yourself the fact that your opponent got lucky
3) Affirm yourself the fact that...

Re: Tell me what you think of this play

i'm torn between a call and a move-in on 4th the way you played it up to there. Then again, some guy who just lost a sit-n-go to me told me i suck and that i'm a fish, so what do i know? ...

Re: Should I have thrown AK in this spot no matter what?

Thanks for all your resposes guys. This hand has been haunting me for a couple days now, and it's nice to see both sides of the argument, clarifying that, if nothing else, it was a tough spot with a...

Re: Make it STOP!

This is not a bad play at all. if I have QQ on a low, rainbow flop or hit top pair with AJs on a flop like J95, you'd better believe i'm about to push out the other tall stack. I don't need an...

Re: Should I have thrown AK in this spot no matter what?

I'm not saying i would have folded the whole way there, i'm just saying it may have been wrong to gamble with the chip leader. I'd of course be going after the shorter stacks.

Re: Should I have thrown AK in this spot no matter what?

well, my concern here is that i could have easily folded my way into the top 5, which paid a minimum of approx. $325 compared to the $91 i got for 9th place. I feel that i took a gamble with the chip...

Re: \"I Don\'t Want To Make A Side Pot\"

This reminds me of a story:

A man walks into a bar in a town that he's never been to before. He see's a few people off in the corner playing 5-card 1-draw poker and asks if he can sit in for a...

Should I have thrown AK in this spot no matter what?

Last night during the $3 multi-table on pokerstars i made the final table. I was in a good spot, with about 425,000 sitting in third place when the final table started. Then, like an idiot, i make a...
