Re: Home tournament

Thanks for the posts. I wasn't second guessing the call so much, though BB had Aces, as the raise. I was trying to get all in, but in retrospect I think I would have been better off pushing and...

Home tournament

8 left out of 22, $20 buy in, payout is $260, $140, $60, $40. I have 350 chips, UTG 265, BB 340. Blinds are 15/30, increasing to 20/40 next hand.

UTG is tight and likes to limp AA/KK when short....

Re: Semi-Official Party 34K Guaranteed 20+2

I'm SB w 1100, raise two limpers to 100 w AJo, called in once place. qj9 flop, bet 175 into 240 pot, villain reraises all in another 235. I call. Reckless?

Re: Semi-Official Party 34K Guaranteed 20+2

That's what I'd do, but I've only played 3 of these.

Re: Two AK hands

Thanks for the replies. There was a long streak of cold deck after hand 1 during which I convinced myself that I should have tried something fancy.

Two AK hands

Party 34K MTT;

Hand 1

Hero 4133, Villains range between 3,000 to 7,000, average is about 5,000, couple of the villains are playing a lot of hands, the other two are tight, everyone's...

Re: Too aggressive ITM?

Hmmm,I was thinking I wanted to play as I figured to have a good chance of crippling him if I hit and I can get away from it if I miss.

Sounds like you think ATo might not be strong enough for...

Re: Too aggressive ITM?

It was only a little more than a quarter of his stack, but the answer to your question is that he is not very good.

He called and showed a flush draw, 8s3s. Spadeless turn and river. MHIG.

Re: Too aggressive ITM?

With a 15 BB stack I didn't think I was yet in push/fold mode.

Too aggressive ITM?

Home tourney, three handed, pays 20$, 60$, $120. Blinds 15/30. Villain is loose/passive preflop and a complete LAG, even maniac, postflop.

Button (260)
Villain (550)
Hero (490)

Dealt to...

Re: Any justification for this?

Thanks. That's what I thought after he busted me.

My idea was raise and fold to a reraise. But after the reraise I felt committed, 1600 to win 5000 and make me chip leader.

Any justification for this?

Home game, payout $200, $100, $40, four handed. BB fairly solid, but will call preflop raises when he shouldn't. I had stolen his blinds twice in the short period since we became four handed.

Re: am i too tight? was this good QQ preflop laydown? (party $20+2)

I didn't play all that many $22s, but I saw this kind of action more than once where the villains had hands like 88 and AJo. I would grit my teeth and push.

Re: Am I a donk?

You're right. Mine was on the flop. I had just about exact odds to do so. In a cash game, I have no doubts. In a tourney, I still think it was a good call. But, it was early, and I had enough...

Re: Am I a donk?

I did this yesterday against two players. They turned over A high and K high flushes. I hope I'm not a donk, but I sure felt like one when they flipped.

Re: $55 QQ

Yeah, you'll notice I had trouble laying down QQ in the op.

My thinking went like this:

99 "sweet", ss allin, "really sweet, gonna bust him", you all in, "let's gamble, damnit". I don't recall...

Re: $55 QQ

Indeed it was.

Did I just play a three way pot with you 20-30 minutes ago: you were AK, I was 99, small stack Ax caught a flush.

Re: Do a lot of 2+2ers squeeze in a set or two during work hours?

Yes. I just finished getting my ass handed to me in a couple of $55s.

$55 QQ

Third hand of a PP $55. No reads.

Hero (BB) and Villain (CO) both with starting stacks.

Hero dealt QQ. Villain raises to 90, Hero reraises to 200, Villain reraises to 500. Uh-oh.

Hero ?

Re: A4s - bubble level 8

If you fold, you're left with 1370 chips. You'll push with any two into the big stack in the BB who will have 2440 chips and be faced with calling 770 to win the pot of 2270.

I'm not happy with...

Re: Can\'t get out of the starting gate (long and l/c)

I think the size of the individual reloads is important. A 9 buyin reload only gives you three or four shots before you start worrying about ruin. I know that playing knowing I had to cash or I'd...

Re: Can\'t get out of the starting gate (long and l/c)

It took me six weeks of $50 buy-ins (about $350, IIRC), small success up to no higher than $200, bust out, repeat cycle, before I broke through. I'm now at $1085. A $50 BR doesn't stand up to much...

Re: do you fold here?

You make some good points. Am I correct in thinking you are only advocating calling w 22 in a fairly narrow range of circumstances?

Re: Facing a constant mini-raiser in level 4 or 5 from the BB

I seem to be pathologically unable to resist the reraise push in this situation. I am not recommending it, as it gets me in trouble, but that's what I do.
