Re: Foxwoods 20/40 with lil\' - comments on all streets please

tpir90036, you're definitely not alone. Out of position, against limpers who will call the three bet, calling out of the big has more positive EV than three betting. This is for two reasons; JJ...

Re: Call, Raise, or Fold the flop?

I agree largely with what you've said and perhaps valued many of the outs a bit too low. I think a call may be correct, but a raise seems to be a terrible idea. With no spades, your hand looses...

Re: Expert play ? almost ?

I think you played the hand well given your read of the preflop raiser, however you neglect the initial limper too much in the hand. A loose player calls your check raise too frequently and makes...

Re: Call, Raise, or Fold the flop?

I believe many of you are over-valuing this hand. Let's break it down; at the time our hero has to act there are 9 bets in the pot, so he's getting 9:1 on a call.

All outs in this hand MUST be...

Re: Folding top pair/bad kicker on the flop when SB bets

I agree with Guy on this. Skalansky talks about this situation in his new book a bit and recommends a fold as well. His discussion talks about reverse implied odds and the likelyhood that you'll...

Re: Fold the river ?

I disagree with betting the river. It's very difficult to lead into two players when an overcard to your hand falls and one that completes the flush. By checking you induce bluffs from hands that...

Re: T8s on the button

The obvious answer already stated by PokerNoob would be to have folded preflop. Your hand has a negative EV in this situation.

Once in the hand the decision is tough. Based on your read of the...

Re: A Common Situation: Heads-Up with a Draw

It depends a lot on the type of player you're against and how this player perceives your play. If you have a tight image in the game the BB will be more likely to put you on a real hand. If so, his...

Re: #$@#%@#$ Jacks!

I largely disagree with the consensus that it is correct to cap with JJ in shorthanded play. I do think you should three bet a lone raiser if there are no callers yet, but overplaying middle pocket...

Re: Pushing too hard with AK?

I believe you played this hand fine up to the river. I'd bet the turn in order to protect the likely to be best high hand, however, you should just check call the river.

The reason I advocate a...
