Re: Preflop raising stats for limit O8

wrong wrong wrong.

you need to raise preflop in omaha 8 to maximize your wins, especially loose Omaha 8 where people won't fold A278 or A39Q to raises.

you need to eliminate players with true...

Re: texaswalker on ub... o8

You can play much more liberally when heads uo or shorthanded since most omaha hands run pretty cloose in value. that said you still want to avoid A68Q type hands, but hands like 3346 or 2458 are...

Re: Reasonable win rate at $3-6??

try reading my post next time and who it was addressed to before you quote it! it had nothing to do with the 5/10 game mentioned. I was answering a specific question about when rake becomes less...

Re: Reasonable win rate at $3-6??

Rake is an important aspect when choosing a game, an increase of $1 could easily turn a winner into a loser.

I hear about places with $5-7 rakes on 2/4-10/20 tables and i cringe.

Re: Reasonable win rate at $3-6??

you would have to be a lot better than a GOOD player to beat a 3/6 game with a $5 rake for 2 bb/hour.

I was answering his question on when the rake becomes less damaging, not how much he will...

Re: Reasonable win rate at $3-6??

As far as where the rake becomes less damaging.

I'll be fair and say your max rake in this game is $5.

so X 25 raked hands an hour the rake is $125/10 players $12.50 an hour. you'll need to...

Re: .50/1 O8 on party

It's not so much the limit you want to look at but the # of people seeing the flop.

if its 4 or less avoid the game

if its 5-6 this is a decent game and you can do pretty well in

if more...

Re: Comments please O8b hand

And actually if you give 1 of the players an A3 you go down to around 20% for a non quartered low, and it's down to 9% for a non quartered low if someone has A2.

Re: Comments please O8b hand

yeah I got close to the same results you did, but when i gave 1 player top 2 it squashed that from around 20% scoop to 2%.

Re: Snowing out of position

I agree with your first comment about him most likely betting only a good 1 card draw, but in the second scenario where he checks and you stand pat he will most likely have to make a hand to call on...

Re: Snowing out of position

If I'm going to do this I would check, hoping to check raise then stand pat or check and if he checks behind just stand pat and bet out.

Re: Comments please O8b hand

Buzz I worked these scenarios out a while back where I had A249 with a suited Ace and the flop was KT3 with 1 of my suit.

my calculations told me I needed 12 small bets (the absolute minimum was...

Re: Comments please O8b hand

your math is a little off, there are 21 ways to make his hand on the river not 24. 3 Aces, 3 twos, 3 threes, 4 fours, 4 fives, 4 sevens. assuming the turn is an 8 but it doesn't matter. the overall...

Re: Too fancy? (O8)

Instead of raising you should fold on the flop.

In order to make your straight it has to make a low possible, you have a terrible low and are at best winning 1/2 the pot. Raising is the worst...

Re: Comments please O8b hand

you'll get there 26% of the times so we need at least 3 to 1 on our money (i would want a little more to call here though), not counting quartered possibilities. i would say i want at least 15 SB's...

Re: Comments please O8b hand

here's the responses i gave beavis on a different forum

It's iffy because if you hit on the turn you are really paying 3 sb's to win about 10 sb's. which is about 3 to 1 on a hand you will make...

Re: 08 Raising to Isolate... good or bad idea here

To me a typical O8 game is where an average, AVERAGE not every hand, of 4-6 people seeing the flop for 1-2 bets. people raise good hands only aside from the bad players.

I have 3 keys to Omaha 8...

Re: 08 Raising to Isolate... good or bad idea here

never read the boston book but you need to read where the other 2 say they are playable not just generalize it. these are tight game hands. I've played many times with Mike Cappalletti and trust me...

Re: O8 Flopped Set, Correct Fold on Turn?

I would typically fold on the flop here, you have no low (nothing worth playing anyway), middle set, and the board has 2 to a suit.

At best your playing for 1/2 the pot. and there are too many...

Re: 08 Raising to Isolate... good or bad idea here

in typical O8 games YOU DON'T PLAY A5s hands. AQ56 is not highly coordinated, the only thing good about this hand is the single nut flush draw. I was a little harsh in my first post, so I will leave...

Re: 08 Raising to Isolate... good or bad idea here

I wouldn't get mixed up in this hand to begin with. you are in a good game, just wait. if this was a tough tight game I like isolating the weak player with this hand but not here.

If you only draw...

Re: Aces in PL O/8

Beav, I'm usually limping or raising the minimum with AAxx even a hand like A4A8 with a suited Ace I usually just bet the minimum. I do this with A237 hands to so I don't get popped too much.

If...

Re: CardPlayer/Jim Brier response to SSH

In regards to Question 3,

Jim's correct, right now you are 9 to 1. if you raise and are reraised by the BB you not only will most likely eliminate the SB but possibly 1 or both of the callers....
