Re: Is Gavin Lying to me?

I've been to Guatemala and Honduras, and it is done there (it has to do with the plumbing, as another poster said -- everything gets clogged up if you flush it). Never been to Mexico, but I would...

Re: Logic in an atheistic worldview

Hi,
I'm not an atheist, but axioms are so basic and obvious that they are self-evident. Thus, they require no proof. As for where an atheist believes these axioms come from... they simply exist due...

Re: Something Eternal

Hi,
I agree. If our universe is finite, and it has not always existed, it had to be created in some way. I choose to believe in God, and have mostly a deistic view of God. I simply think this is the...

Re: a fold unlike any other i\'ve ever made

This bet was very likely an attempt to "freeze" you with his overpair, as he didn't want to be put to a tough decision by someone who is overplaying top pair. Looks like it pulled double duty by...

Re: Agnosticism in Doubt

What is wrong in saying "I don't know" when there is zero concrete evidence to support one view or the other? Not knowing the truth and thus not pulling an answer out of your ass just to have an...

Re: Intellectual Abundance

Lestat,
I think another good way to look at it is as follows:

When choosing a mate, intelligence has always been a positive quality, as it gives a higher probability of success to your offspring....

Re: For (kind-of) Atheists

I think the same can be said for God. Religion is definitely a human creation though, therefore it would not exist.

Re: For (kind-of) Atheists

[ QUOTE ]
math would still exist whether man had been around to invent it or not

I don't think this is true. Euclid laid down the axioms for mathematics from which every theorem...

Re: Intellectual Abundance

Smarter = better use of tools = better chance of survival and reproduction. As far as the really complicated stuff goes (i.e. theoretical physics, advanced mathematics, etc) this is just a direct...

Re: Custer Hand #3(BP): 7 handed, 11BB, 66 from MP

Ehh... I hate these spots. I think I'd push here. Maybe make a ~t400 raise and fold to a push (except from BB of course). If the players after you are loose and aggressive I think folding is best....

Re: Curtains Hand #1 (1C5)- Bubble play

I always forget to use it myself. But I really don't see the point in *not* using it in this instance. You're getting called preflop if you push. You might NOT get called if you simply call preflop...

Re: neteller cashout from stars, 15$ fee?

Voltron,
Had this problem when I tranferred money into Stars using my mastercard check card from my bank. My understanding is that it's the fee (something around 3% or close to it) to transfer US$...

Re: Dignity

That's one hell of a logical leap you're making. Are you sure you don't have a "hidden agenda"?

[ QUOTE ]
It depends of course what the non-Christian is. In my case, I am an atheist.

Re: A laymen\'s look

The one I always recommend to people is The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene. Phenomenal book, but it sounds like you've already read stuff regarding this area. Its emphasis is string theory and its...

Matt R, I think you might be reading into my post to find a hidden agenda. There's nothing more than what meets the eye.

Re: Dignity

[ QUOTE ]
If a man lays prostrate before God, he sacrifices his dignity. He is essentially saying, "I am nothing without You, God." Where is his self-worth? Therefore, he has no dignity before God....

Re: (LC) $109 bubble - why do people call in this situation?

[ QUOTE ]
This isn't even borderline, it's hugely -$EV. If I have any two and he calls this it's -1.2%.

And he made nothing, I pushed the next hand with AJs and bust to his K7o.

Re: (LC) $109 bubble - why do people call in this situation?

How bad is this call per ICM? (don't have sngpt, figured someone could give me a # in 1/100th the time I could do it by hand).

Anyway... the more I play these, the more I'm starting to like...

Re: What do you think of this push?

I don't like it, I think the raise is way too big. I would call, with my 2nd choice being a raise to ~t300 or so. I'd much prefer a call though because I'd hate it if someone pushed over me.

Re: how not to play the bubble by scuba chuck

I'd probably call too, if I didn't bet the turn already. Once he flipped over his ultra-slowplayed then all-in with one-pair 2nd kicker, I'd say 'oh well' and load up another one.
