players m/f
True observation about recreation players:
Most craps players are men Most slot players are women Slots has a much higher (over 10x) player disadvantage. What inferences can you draw from this premise? |
Re: players m/f
easy, men and women are different.

Re: players m/f
In many places slot machines offer 90%+ paybacks. A progressive slot machine in the right circumstances can even offer greater than 100% payback.
On the other hand bets like the field, hardways, hi, lo, yo, any craps, etc., have 10% or more house edge. I see players making these sucker bets all the time at the craps tables. Any inferences drawn would be based on a faulty premise. Paul |

A 91% payback is a horrendous return. Few players know where to find the right progressives, and you only get 100% by playing full coin, and fewer people know about it. On the other hand bets like the field, hardways, hi, lo, yo, any craps, etc., have 10% or more house edge. I see players making these sucker bets all the time at the craps tables. Not true. Very few regular players make the sucker bets. Most players bet pass and come with double odds, so they are getting a 99.4% return. And in places like Sam's Town, Binions, and Casino Royale many people take 20x+ odds, and their return is close to 99.9%. |

i agree...also, women are smarter because they get to gamble sitting down...

Re: players m/f
I see guys who I KNOW practically live a the craps table betting horns, all the hardways, yos, midnight, acey deucey, craps check, and even the friggin' field ALL THE TIME. There isn't acraps table around where these bets aren't covered on almost every roll.

One reason that many women prefer machines is that they aren't equipped with the half-in-the-bag jerk yelling about how the others are playing all wrong.
I can well appreciate this sentiment, having spent many hours being assaulted by vomit laced bad breath berating me for hitting a 15 at the blackjack tables, although I'm no fan of B. F. Skinner, so I generally avoid anything that resembles pecking a bar for food pellets. Since then, I've come around to the joys of watching the HitBJs going on tilt and passing me their cheques instead. |
Re: players m/f
I have read articles about why women play slots more than men. Some of the things they mention are:
- Slot machines are less intimidating than table games; no one judges you on your playing ability - Women do not feel the need to compete against others to prove their success - Men grow up with exposure to poker/blackjack/craps/etc, while women do not |
Re: players m/f
slots has a much higher player disadvantage only if A) they're playing in a high vig slots area (some casinos offer pretty low vig slots), and B) if the craps players are only play pass/don't pass/come/don't come with odds. Many of the other bets on craps tables have higher vigs. For the ones constantly playing yo, C+E, etc, their vig goes up.
That said, I think craps is pretty intimidating for many women to play, being that it's usually filled with loud, obnoxious drinking men. al |
