At what point does raising lose value?

Party 15-30, three limpers to me in MP2 with JJ. I raise, six players take the flop. I raise for the fact that the player I knock out may be the one to otherwise flop a good hand, as well as increasing the pot if I get a good flop.

But with JJ and three limpers already, does anyone just call?

With JJ in MP I'm hoping someone raises in front of me so I can 3 bet it, otherwise, with limpers to me, it's just another middle pocket pair looking to catch a set, I'm starting to call the majority of the time there.

Calling is terrible.

Clark, I know you're right, but could you do me and sweetzer a favor and elucidate. Why is a raise with JJ from MP and limpers to you a good play on the whole?

Its the 4th best freaking hand. OK?

The way I look at it, the players in front have typical limping hands (JTs, 22-99, QJs, etc.). I think a raise will limit the field to you and these limping-type hands, while elminating overcards in hands such as A8o or K9s.

Ax, Kxs, and QJ don't fit into your range of opponent preflop limping hands?

I like Vehn's answer.

OK, here's a simple look at it. You'd raise AK, right? And you will flop TPTK about 33% of the time. And you are getting like 4-1 effective odds to hit your 2-1 shot so you raise.

Well, with JJ you are going to flop an overpair or a set a whopping 60% (or so) of the time. So you are now taking 4-1 on a 2-3 shot. It doesn't get much better than that.
