Will NETeller give out customer information to authorities?

I read a newspaper article recently about the IRS investigating foreign credit/debit cards which are used frequently and for "big" amounts. My question is, will NETeller hand out information about their customers if the authorities request it? I would not appreciate a giant tax bill sometime in the future.

Anyone with insight?

A couple of points to discuss here. First, Neteller is a Canadian company and is regulated by the laws of that country. The United States Internal Revenue Service or any other countries for that matter, has no jurisdiction over that company. The US IRS could, however request the records through the NAFTA treaty and might even get them. But I really don't think that they would expend that kind of effort over a few hundred or even thousand dollars from an online gambler.

Secondly, Netellers' TOS states that it will only release customer information in the form of activity records to Vendors who suspect fraudulent or illegal activity. They do not release banking information in any form. Your bank or credit card information should be quite secure. Hope that eases your mind a little so you can concentrate on playing that J3 offsuit to it's fullest.

CALL NETELLER. They have a very nice staff and answer their phones on the first ring...........why try and get an answer here from people who don't really know for sure?

About 6 months ago, I called and spoke to a manager at Neteller who assured me, categorically, that it could not and would not ever possibly ever happen ever no way.

I've seen this discussed partly in a forum called pokersidan.se - I noticed you are from Sweden so there you will find some discussion about this.

Yeah -- if you pay the taxes that you are legally required to pay, you won't have to worry about that giant tax bill. If you take the position that the taxes are illegitimate, for whatever reason, then you have to accept the consequences of getting caught. There is such a thing as civil disobedience, if you believe a law to be morally wrong, but acceptance of the consequences is an integral part of taking that path.

they cooperate regarding laundering/terrorism, and i highly doubt they'd want to jeopardize their ability to use usa citizens by failing to give up a single person when asked. if you get audited you will get subpeonad to provide the info yourself anyway, so it doesn't matter if neteller spills the beans.
