I played this like an idiot.

Sorry, didn't save hand history.
$100 NLHE on Pacific.
I usually play $25 and playing scared money venturing into this "high stakes" game.

I open-limp in middle position with pocket 4's (First mistake?)
Late position raises to $4, button and BB call, I call.

Flop is 5 7 9 rainbow.

3 checks to the button, who makes a 'don't call my unpaired overcards' pot-sized bet.

I have him beat, I know I do. No, really, I know I have him beat.

So I check-raise like a fool to $32, like that's gonna make him fold overcards.

40% of my stack in the pot, I'm out of position with baby pair, and king hits the turn. What now ? Pretend king didn't scare me at all, I check-raised him with a set all along ?

Feel free to berate my intelligence (or lack thereof).

Cezar
