Back to Basics: Value extraction vs a Maniac
 

I'm on a somewhat unpleasant downswing (-75bb, yeah I've had worse but it still sucks), and I'm starting to suspect that I'm tilting. So I'm just gonna run this by real quick to make sure I'm not turning into a fish. Villain is an honest-to-God maniac, something like 60/24/6.0 or so. His first hand he 3-bet preflop with KTo.

So the Manual for Maniacs demands that I simply check/call this down, but this is a pretty icky flop where spiking an 8 may or may not help me, especially if it's a heart. Call down anyway? And does anyone object to a c/r on the river?

Why c/r? He's not going to fold, and I doubt you're ahead all that often here. I c/c.

Because I think he's dumb enough to bet/call.

Edit: why do you think he's ahead more likely than not? It's heads up so a flush can't be that common, and I've got da straight.

I'm drunk, but why isn't hero ahead here enough to c/r? I just don't see villain having a flush very often or J8. I c/r all day if I think he will bet the river and with those numbers he will bet it. c/r, cap, double cap, triple cap, enjoy.

I suck at reading posts tonight. c/r his ass with your straight. I thought you had A6, which means you're not ahead all that often here.

I have no idea why you are calling this flop...fold here and stop the bleeding--you can bash heads with him when your hand is stronger.

That's a good point. I liked his flop call a lot more when Ithought ahe had A6.
