This was not a bad beat. It was God's way of expressing his anger that a respected 2p2'r didn't bet that frop.

Exacly what would a bet on the flop have done .. you really think, that villian would have trown his set ???? (His magic hand reading skills would have put hero on AA and that is it .. (And not on AK, AQ .. Ax .. KK, KQ, QQ, JJ or any two pieces of junk and on a steal)


Damn .... doesn't anyone think, Is 2+2 all about posting stereotyped advice (Remember young skywalker, always bet the flop or you might succumb to The Dark Side)

And betting more on the flop ... convencional wisdoms says that you want action with Aces, so you make a minimal raise not to drive everybody out (You are 80 percent favorite against all hands other than AA, where even then you are not behind) (Harrington, Brunson .. and others)

I see this comment a lot. Why raise more preflop, I want action with aces. I'll put up with the occasional beat for all the extra action I get.

I raise 3X the BB regardless if I have 78s or AA. You bet different amounts for differnet hands?

I'm pretty sure he's jsut saying that your standard PFR should be higher. I disagree, I think the PFR is fine.

Bet the flop because you want to get all your money in before another [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] comes to kill your action.

Yes I bet different amounts ... if there has been a lot of minimal raise stealing attempts in the later stages of a tourney, I will not mind doing the same with aces or kings

If I am shortstacked and been all in a couple of times in a row, I will also go all in with aces


But generally I vary my game ... at a tight table limping from early position with aces is ok

and so on ... different hands different considerations ... I am a follower of Harrington

It's is 1 to 2 that a diamond will hit on turn or river

if villian has diamond it is hard to push him out .. unless you push him all in, he is getting the correct pot odds to call ... so either you shut him out or he is not making a mistake

On turn it's 1 to 4 ... I'd save my bet for the turn (Though not river ... leave him the possibillity of drawing), bet half the pot, give him odds 1 to 3 and se if he bites ...


Since the hand is played very slowly, I gather that hero is not interested in pushing villian out of hand
