aq reraised on flop

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Villain is LA/A. I haven't been at table long and do not have a read on what hands he check raises or on whether he overvalues tpgk. This is also my 1st session at 100NL.

Hero ($94.25)
Button ($71.35)
SB ($90.75)
BB ($326.65)
UTG ($100)

Preflop: Hero is MP with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
1 fold, Hero raises to $3, 1 fold, SB (poster) calls $2.50, 1 fold.

Flop: ($7) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)

Bet more on the flop, that way people don't interpret it as weakness and try to make moves on you. I call here and play poker on the turn.

lol--well, I wanted a call from a worse hand; got more than I bargained for.

At this level, if you pot that flop, a weaker ace isn't folding. Plus, if he had a hand like Q-J, you gave him a decent price to call you.

Generally I pot this flop, check most turns, and call or bet the river.

Re: aq reraised on flop

Like I stated in your other post, I raise more preflop for one. I think betting slightly more on the flop is stronger psychologically, and may discourage our friend from attempting to mug us. The LAG's at these games prey on those "weak-looking" continuation bets, and I will let them raise my monsters all day. I'm not too happy showing that same perceivable weakness with my more marginal holdings. Here, I likely call and play poker with my new LAG friend.

Thanks--I've gotten so accustomed to betting 1/2 to 2/3rds on the flop that it never struck me that it could be interpreted as a weak cb.

If I did pot it and I still got raised, what % of times do you expect me to be ahead here?

Pretty read dependant stuff here.

If you think there's a good chance you're ahead, call him down.

Otherwise, muck the flop.

read dependEnt

Wish I had one.

With no reads, I'm gonna default to very rarely.

Let's say you bet 75-100% on the flop when you hit.
Do you make continuation bets in that range as well?
Otherwise they will read you quite easy.

Isn't betting around 50% better?
Then you give them terrible odds and your 50% continuation bets blend in nice and don't have to work as often as if you bet pot.

Playing TPGK is a pain.
Does anyone have some good links to posts or articles about it?
