Liquor/Wine/Beer FAQs, Websites, and Books

Seeing as there about a trillion posts a day on assorted alchohol related beverages, where is all this info comming from, that answers these posts? I would like to know everything about all three of those subjects. Basically, where do I go to become a connoisseur.

I recommend beeradvocate.com for good beer discussion and educational materials.

Get the Wine Avenger by William Gluckstern. Avoid all the snobby wine guides. This one gives you what you need to know. And of course, start drinking.

The Joy of Mixology, by Gary Regan.
American Bar, by Charles Schumann.
The Craft of the Cocktail, by Dale Degroff

After those, consider Cocktail by Paul Harrington.

You can learn a lot about liquor and wine by going to a good liquor store and talking to the staff.

www.drinkboy.com is where I got started. The articles on how to stock a bar are very helpful as a starting point. Any cocktail I've tried that he's written more than a recipe about has been good.

For Scotch, I always recommend Malt Madness

Its insane how much information is there. Hands down the best website for Scotch.
