it's not important WHEN you reach those goals, but how well you keep them over time.

That's why I said "consistant"

After already being a winning micro-stakes fixed limit player:

2 months on my own + 1 month with coaching

Another 3-4 months.

This is all for NL25. After almost a full year playing NL25, I moved up very quickly to NL400 so can't really comment on consistent winning. Within 6 months of moving from NL25, though, I am fairly confident that I am a 8PTBB+/100 winner at NL400.

Edit: I answered in terms of time instead of hands because I have no idea how many hands it was and also because at least for me time is more important since I learn basically the same amount when I'm playing as when I'm not playing since most of my learning comes from thinking about the game, discussing the game, etc. but that is probably because I play 4 tables, IM, and watch tv while I'm playing so I'm probably not learning as much as I should be while I'm playing.

I am 4 PTBB/100 in NL50 and NL100, after 20,000 hands.

And 7 PTBB/100 in NL25, after 15,000 hands (but I don't play it anymore.)

a) 5 minutes
b) 5 minutes
c) 5 minutes
d) 5 minutes

e) consistant? never happened - too long term - i have 35k hands running at 14ptBB/100 and similarily I have 50k hands running at 4.5ptBB/100 - the 50k followed the 35k, the 35k were played with about a smuch skill as it takes to wipe your own arse. I have a lot more unlogged hands that I estimate ran somewhere in between. On average I run at 5ptBB/100. My last 10k hands ran at 10ptBB/100 my first 10k of November ran at -6ptBB/100.

One day I'll die and in heaven (hell?) there'll be a PT database stat called ptBB/lifetime. Someone will say how did you do? I'll say "Don't know, not enough lifetimes to give a really accurate indication." My own fault or being a Buddhist.
