missing value bets?

First hand, villian is very loose. 38 / 7 / 1 (river AF 3.25) over 120 hands.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 2 folds, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero raises, UTG calls, MP1 calls, CO calls, SB calls.

Flop: (10 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, UTG folds, MP1 folds, CO folds, SB calls.

Turn: (7 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.

River: (9 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

I really felt that he was bad enough to have a deuce.

Second hand. Villian has taggish qualities. 11 / 7 / 2 after 140 hands.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG calls, Hero raises, 5 folds, BB calls, UTG calls.

Flop: (6.33 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, BB raises, UTG folds, Hero 3-bets, BB calls.

Putting him on a pair here atleast. As it felt like he was doing the standard blind defense play to CR the PFR with a piece of the board.

Turn: (6.16 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls.

Didnt get knocked, but sigh, was scared of monsters under the bed, thinking if I hit trips vs aggro opponent, i'd gun for the river CR.

River: (8.16 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks.

And I wuss out cause i actually put him on a 5 for some reason.

Final Pot: 8.16 BB

Well you guys, do what you do best, drill me for not value betting more. And if for some reason, which I highly doubt you feel these two are standard, gimme the props.

I actually play the first hand the same, because those times when he has a 2 he three bets and it's hard to fold... As for the second, EASY value bet on the river. What hand doesn a taggish villain defend with that has a 5 in it besides like A5 suited (and even that is not likely in this situation). Most like villain has a 9.

Hand 1: These kinds of river donks usually freeze me into just calling as well.

Hand 2: I bet this river. Villain called from the BB and could easily have a nine here.

Re: missing value bets?

I think in the first hand you should raise. The 2 potentially counterfeits a bunch of the hands that beat you and he's more likely to pay off with an 8/J than have a 2.

Second hand you have to bet. I'm more scared of a K than a 5. A 5 likely would have bet or check-raised the turn or at least bet the river.

Re: missing value bets?

Hand 1 I like the call. This situation is almost identical to one that is discussed in HEPFAP. When it is heads up on the end and you raise for value you usually want to be at least a 2-1 favorite to have the best hand to make the play correct. In a spot like this it will be very difficult to fold to a 3-bet, and you will have to pay 2 more bets to a better hand, but only win one from a worse hand IF they indeed call. The villain's stats indicate that a 2 is a serious possibility here and a hand like J8 or 68 would have likely raised you on the turn. Good disciplined call imo.
