Difference between 1/2 and 2/4
 

Can any experienced players offer their insights about the difference between 1/2 and 2/4? I recently moved up from 0.5/1 to 1/2 and I noticed the games are slightly tighter, with the occasional check-raise and slowplay. Otherwise, I didn't think the level of play was significantly more sophisticated. There have certainly been times when I sat down with a more difficult 0.5/1 table than the average 1/2 table. How big of a step is it to break into the 2/4 realm?

I predict that this thread is going to be unnecessarily long.

Really, you just always need to be mindful of your opponents. There's nothing fundamentally different by putting more money in front of you, but you have to be more mindful of your hand and player reading. You'll probably want to play some 6 max to practice this.

At 1/2, game selection is a recommendation...at 2/4 it is a necessity. IMO, good 2/4 games are just as beatable as good 1/2 games. You just have to avoid the TAGfests

If you are talking about full-ring then any difference is negligable. IMO the play is the same, looser if you are talking about Party where $1 $2 full is a rock garden.

There are still plenty of ace chasers and those who cannot fold any pair which is all a guy or gal can hope for.

As long as you are properly rolled for the limit and can quickly get over losing $24 in one hand rather than the $12 you are used to then make the step. It is nice when you start winning those bigger pots.
