Do CENTS matter?

do CENTS matter?

Hey, as long as I'm making confessions, I'd also like to confess that I lazily bet in increments of $1.

...Which, seeing as I'm loitering around the NL 25's these days, doesn't seem prudent. I'm essentially only betting 4xBB, 8xBB, 12xBB, etc...

Is it worth the time/effort to type in ".85" instead of "1" for the sake of making a more precise/appropriate bet?

Continued thanks for your thoughts,
J Chap

at 25NL I play at 3 tables so I just have my finger by the 1 so I can just hit raise and move on to the next table. 4XBB is my standard raise at 25 and 50NL

I actually type out the cents. But I'm incredibly anal. In the long run it doesn't matter.

Sometimes it feels weird to bet 1$ into 0.5$, but I'm usually too lazy to type 0.5 or 0.75 anyway... it does get better at higher stakes though as you probably know

I type them in just because I want to bet $1.5 into a $1.5 pot or something..i don't want to bet $2 to win $1.5....remember that is 1bb at the 50 NL tables and if you are planning on folding to a raise or something that is 1 bb that you didn't have to lose.

Re: Do CENTS matter?

I just started playing NL25 on Stars, and my standard pre-flop raise is 4BB: $1 ... and all post-flop bets are rounded to the nearest $ too ... but then I'm in the habit of not using the slider - just banging in the bet with the keypad and hitting enter. Much more satisfying than using the mouse.

However, I add 50c to my raises for every pre-flop limper, so I'm not quite as bad as you. Can't see the point of bets like .55 or .85 though ...

you know what is fun though, is sometimes making it a weird number, like 0.76 cents, or betting 2.87 into a 3.00 pot. makes you think...

makes you think what is this idiot doing!

Re: Do CENTS matter?

yeah, NH, everyone. nice family pot.

i should probably at least lower my threshold to .50 (still 2xBB).

the main issue is that flop pot that's like $1 or $2.

i think 1.50 is way more useful than 2.

I wonder if the pros who play NL2000 ever make weird bets of $76 or $287 into a $300 pot ...
