MTT Blind Structures

It seems to me that the most interesting, most difficult, and most complex porton of an MTT from a strategic perspective is when the SB+BB+antes are around 1/20th of the average stack.

Tournaments are usually designed to increase the blinds based on time intervals or hand intervals. Why not set the blinds and antes as a ratio of the average stack?

It seems to me you could put a tournament through a few ratio phases and lengthen the most strategic portion. This will avoid lengthy portions where everyone is very deep and also you could shorten the fairly mindless all-in endgame stuff.
