Dealers?

We are thinking about getting a dealer for our weekly 5 hour cash game. What is the going rate for dealers and what is a good way to find one?

We pay ours $10 per hour+tips. It really depends on the stakes you play. If you list on poker sites you city I'm sure you will have dealers knocking on your door.

So where are you located?

Costa Mesa, CA. I don't want to seem cheap but I do not want to allow tipping, I would rather pay a generous amount that a dealer would be happy to get and not have everyone competing for tips. At your finer country clubs tipping is not allowed for this reason.

If I wasn't getting tips I'd expect $30/hr minimum probably.

I was actually thinking of $40 per hour for a good dealer that would be professional and treat everyone right. I would want someone to make more than they would in a regular game with tips without the stigma of having people come to my place and feeling like they have to tip.

I plan on talking to the floor manger at Commerce and see what they say. Are you local?

That would be good, but i would say at least $80 for the 5 hours. Remember you get what you pay for.

Not necessarily. I've sat in games where the dealer was overpriced and underskilled, and I've sat in games where the dealer was great and worked only for tips. It's just like any other hiring decision... the total upfront cost isn't the only thing to be considered.

Dealers at our game(if good) will make 30-40 an hour.
